Optimate connection to Cigarette lighter socket?

I remember seeing sometime a socket that would allow you to plug a cigarette lighter socket into the lead coming off my battery for my optimate charger....

Any idea what this lead is called....and anywhere I can buy it from? Ideally a shop that I can go to, rather than order online.

I can't find it on Maplin, but I might be being stupid....

You would need a converter from 12V to 240V.

I know what you mean. Not sure of the lead actually exists though. You may have to buy some new connections for your optimate and go form there.

From what I gather. You have a hard wired input socket for your Optimate charger. So you just remove the seat or whatever, And plug the optimate in.

When you unplug your optimate, I am guessing you want a lead with a Cig lighter socket on one end, And an Optimate socket on the other end. So you can plug it into the socket which is hard wired to your battery. TO save you running 2 lots of wiring from the battery?

I've got one on my bike as well. They work pretty well although bit difficult to mount (ended up using cable tiles on mine and attaching it to the yoke). Also the 1st one I had got all corroded inside and the bottom section inside became loose so I had to bin it. Also the lead could do with being a bit longer - mine doesn't quite reach back to the battery compartment.

Anywhere that sells Optimates should be able to sell them - I've seen them in Streetbike before.... although more pricey than online even after the postage was applied.

Do a search on TM68 Optimate and your see lots of places selling it.

Why bother?

They are always going to be live?

I'm presuming like my Accumate, it is wired direct to the battery (and its what you leave connected for easy charging of battery).

If you buyt that cable and leave your sat nav/phone charger on its going to drain your battery if you leave your bike without unplugging it.

Why not buy a car cigarette lighter extension for about £3 from a local car shop and a relay for about £2.

Simply cut the insert that goes in to the cigarette socket and throw away and the rest ie (the female cigarette lighter end) rig up to the relay. Yeah it'll take about 30mins more time to do, but won't ever drain your battery.

I just stuck a random 2 pin plug on some leads coming off the battery to charge it, then stuck a similar socket on the trickle charger. I stuck the normal clips on with one of these plugs too, which has the added bonus that I have done similar on the pump which has long lost it's clips.
