 |
|
Well, here's my first bike, a 1984 Suzuki TS50X, bought for my 16th for £150 we spent a further £175 on it to get it through the MOT.

Fast Forward a year and it all goes to pot =[ doing 40mph @ 10500rpm there was a massive clunk and it went slightly quiet. Luckily it was 200 yards from home after a 40 mile trip out to help a mate put a new engine in his car.

an hour later and it was a bit less 'TS' shaped =/

One weekend I was bored so removed the engine

I finally got time to strip the engine down and it didn't look good, aside from cracking the skirt of te piston I toasted the oil seals and all of the bearings

One cylinder head
kinda dirty

lovely and shiny!

Some polish 'fell' onto the clutch cover, so I had to remove it and it CLEANED the side!

https://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb73/sam_billing_91/Photo-0222.jpg
I then started on the frame, gave it a thorough clean and a lick of gloss black paint aswell and stripping the brakes and wheels off for a proper clean.

Then last month I got all the wheels and brakes back on, but am waiting on an engine bearing so hae left the engine out.

Please don't laugh at the 'TSXR' stickers, it was faster than all my mates 50's (it was still a genuine 50cc, I didn't have the money to big bore it) so it sort of adopted TSXR XD

element, I can't help but feel that the fat bit of the exhaust (sorry, not a two-stroker in the slightest, so excuse my ignorance) looks a bit, well, unprotected. I can see that there's nowhere to mount a plate of any description, but still; I'd be shitting it every time I went off road...
Am I just too much of a worrier?
edit: I've just looked at some professionally made ones, to sate my curiosity, and it appears that yes, I am too much of a worrier.
Incidentally, that's a fine looking crosser, and the bashplate (when compared to ones you'd pay for) is a very nicely-done piece of kit. ____________________ '10 SV650SF, '83 GS650GT (it lives!), Questionable DIY dash project, 3D Printer project, Lasercutter project |

I have a few updates, the clutch thrust bearing is on the way, should be here next wednesday. I managed to get the engine back in with some help from my dad (big thanks to him, wouldnt have the bike if it weren't for him) I have more paint for the frame, so will be painting it soon.
I was flicking through fleabay a few days ago and had a look for a sump guard, there was one for £25 + some p&p, looked on an hour later after having a think through and to my surprise there was one for £6 + £5 postage, score one for me lol it should be here monday, ready for me to give a lick of paint ____________________ '84 TS50X, '91 TZR125, '89 CBR400RR, '91 VFR400R NC30, '98 R1
