My flatmate used to own a 70cc moped and now due to moving uni house wants to get a 125cc moped for going up to uni (much quicker than the bus and all motorcycles can park really central at uni for free when cars pay £4+ a day).

She wanted to spend about £600 and wants a moped (I recommended a CG125 but she doesn't like gears)

Anyway, we went to see a Piaggio Skipper 125 in Bristol the other day and thing was massive and she wasnt strong enough to put it on its stand (it was missing the part you stand on to help shift the weight)

She found another one for £600 that is a Typhoon 125 (she used to have a typhoon 70) but its 8 years out with 28,00 miles and few scratches.

What i want to know is how many miles is too much for a moped? My initial reaction to 28k miles was its far too high and not worth £600, is this the case?

Also, it £600 a fairly low amount for a 125cc moped? I know its fair for a 50cc but is it for a 125cc?

Thanks in advance as i really know next to nothing about 125cc mopeds Thumbs Up

No such thing as a 125 Moped.....

50 cc is the max for a moped.

I guess what you really mean is a scooter.

Considering the new price of said scooters is.....

Price: £1,689.00

Guessing its a 2T iwould get the barge pole out, as it will have most likely run into the ground, unless its been owned by a grannie Wink

I would say that the price asked is a tad on the high side.

Suitable for short to mid range journeys and traffic-surfing where maximum acceleration is what really matters, but if you want to live life to the full, ask us to fit a Malossi 180 kit to this model, and it is guaranteed to be the most scary thing you have ever ridden, destroying the moral of any car driver at the traffic lights, and most superbikes too if you can hang on for long enough!

So its a superbike beater then.... Laughing

Back when though? If they were on sale now, I can assure you it wouldn't be that cheap.
