I sold my alpinestar gp pro gloves on ebay and the buyer is complaining that the palms (they were red and white) are black where my grip has coloured them and therfore they arnt in good condition..
My arguement is the stitching is good (perfect actually, none has come away or anything) aswell as the leather (no tears or anything). And the palms of the gloves just get discoloured from being USED and I said they were used gloves
what do you think? ____________________ Previous Bike: ZXR 400

Did you show the palms in the pictures?
Did you mention that they were discoloured?
Why not just say if he's unhappy he can send them back to you and you'll give him his money back minus the postage.
It's fair, but I bet he won't bother as he's just after a few more quid off. ____________________ My Flickr |

If you said they were used and they don't look like shitrags, then you have no reason to send them back.
He bought at his own peril, and (I'm assuming ) you were honest in your description.
But if you speak to him on the phone you're more likely to get him to reason - email/messages are always too formal and can sound threatening without meaning to. ____________________ Kawasaki ER6n -> Honda CBR600RR -> Honda VTR 1000 -> Moto Guzzi Norge 1200

I didnt mention anything specific in the description, just said I have had them for a few years, and they have been used for normal rides out but are in good condition.
What does he expect after near two years of use?
He did ask just now if he can send them back.
TBH I cba with all that but hes treatening me with chargebacks and stuff. ____________________ Previous Bike: ZXR 400

The only thing you have to be careful of is that ebay always tend to side with the buyer. ____________________ My Flickr |

Yup it was paypal.
I hate selling things on ebay.. the people are fucking idiots
If he mails but saying 'no i expecting brand new untouched gloves that I can stare at all day instead of actually using the fucking things for what they were made to do' then ill get them back and refund him minus the postage, ebay listing fee and papal fee if there was one ____________________ Previous Bike: ZXR 400

If he's sent you messages threatening chargebacks etc make sure you keep them as they can be used to reverse the chargeback if he attempts one, it's absolutely against ebay and paypal rules for buyers to use threats like that. Ebay and paypal will side with you if the buyer starts threatening you like that.
Ironically if you reported him for threatening you then he'll get blocked from ebay and you won't have to bother with him any more! |

That model of alpinestar gp pro gloves are about two years old (if not older) as im sure you've seen the new ones (they have more.. er..jelly type stuff around them)
Anyone who knew anything about alpinestar (you would have to look at their line of products to know about them) would know what the older versions look like aswell as the newer ones
He had every chance (10 days) to ask for pics, or even ask questions. He could have even just researched when they first came out and when the new ones came out.. he did none
'used for normal riding' means there were used for normal riding lol ____________________ Previous Bike: ZXR 400

Well, I'm on your side to be honest. I think I paid in excess of £150 for my GP Pro gloves when they first came out.
As you said, they have been used, so I personally would expect the marks to be on the palm, but as has been said, eBay buyers are usually nutters expecting virtually new stuff for bottom dollar.
If he does start a Paypal dispute, they will make him send them back (and prove that you have received them), but they will give him a refund for the postage that you charged him as well as the final value.
He's obviously just trying to get a bit knocked off, but if I were you I'd tell him to send them back and give him a refund minus postage.
It's just the pain in the arse that eBay is I'm afraid. ____________________ Current: ZZR1400

Maybe you could post a picture up of what the palms actually look like (if you have one) as this is what the dispute is over |

I wouldn't of exactly called them good condition if the palms had discolored
Plus where you said
"just been used for normal rides and have no tears or anything"
i would take that as nothing at all is wrong with it including discoloring/fading. Up to you but i don't think its a fair description of the item. Its like going looking at a bike and someone failing to mention the damage/ or paint fading in this case . |
