As the title really BUT you have to have heard it in real life (not on tv/you tube) and no race bikes/cars. Oh and it can be anything as long it has an engine so bike, car, plane, bus, etc. Sound clips welcome!

Car - Ferrari F40 because of the V8 roar topped with the addictive turbo sound

Bike - (haven't heard many) RSV 1000 because it scared the sh*t out of me as it rumbled pass

Big single! Used in anger or not, from the side of the road or being ridden, is pure aural sex. And that sweet burble on the overrun... Also an NC30 screaming on the track is sweet, or a baffleless cbx1000... But the single will always get my attention, especially in todays world where they are niche.

Car wise? Well a lot of people say that the Subarus sound good, a bit like a V8. That isn't true, the only part about a Subaru that sounds good is the turbo.

I'd have to say a big V8 without many silencing aids has to be right up there...

For bikes any large V2 or honda VFR800fi with quill pipes.

Actually I saw an Alfa Romeo 8c Competizione in London a few weeks back. That sounded the mutts nuts!

Bike - Any multicylinder stroker running unsilenced stingers

Other - Deltic Locomotive - something powered by two stroker engines which are 18 cylinder, 36 piston, triple crank and scavenge blown (a form of super charging to fill the cylinders as the piston falls due to the presence of a four stroke style shell bearing crank) isn't going to sound anything other then orgasmic.

The best car engine sound has to be the BRM V16. 1,500cc supercharged V16 producing 600bhp @ 12,000rpm. Quite amazing for 1950. Shame it was actually a pretty crap car!

As for bike, probably either a nice noisy stroker or a Firestorm with unbaffled cans.

I was lucky enough to be on the m25 when a zonda and mclaren slk drove past , the 2 of then werent racing but were playing.

The sound was pure mechanical sex .

Bike:-
My mates Aprillia tuono with Blue Flames , following that when it pops is awesome.

Living in Farnborough all my life the typhoon on a vertical climb above the B&Q carpark during the airshow week setting off every other car alarm I swear the sound could empty your bowels
