Hi,

I've got some cracks in my seat unit. I'm hoping gluing them together will sort it, though i'm not sure what glue to use and where to get it from, anyone any ideas?? thanks!

Wink

Depends how big the cracks are but superglue has never failed me. Get it from your local post office, if they don't have it Wilkinson will.

Yeah i use superglue but a good tip for a bit of extra strength is to straighten out some staples and place them along the crack like stitches.
Works for me anyhow.

If you want it done properly, the plastics can actually be "welded" from behind, although this is normally done in conjunction with a respray.

From my experience, welding isn't as strong as superglue unless you want to melt holes in your panels.

I agree with plastic welding (Done by a professional)
Superglue never worked when i tried it, mainly because its got no flex in it, and cracks really easy.

Araldite is the normal solution as far as I know.

It resists shocks, is far stronger than superglue (and nowhere near as brittle), and easier then plastic welding.

From my experience welding is potentially unreliable, just use araldite... Get it on ebay, araldite rapid specifically, comes in a dual syriinge thing nowadays.

The proper plastic-weld is better but if you have to use superglue get the stuff they sell in double-glazing shops. It's slow setting and much stronger than ordinary stuff.

Really? Confused

My fairing is held together with some fibreglass reinforced plastic that I bought in a box from halfords, works incredibly well. It's just a case of roughing up the plastic wih some sandpaper, and cleaning the area your fixing with some meths to get any greasy muck off. Sticks well Thumbs Up

obviously fiberglass will stick but how long ?
using this powder & liquid makes the repair undestructable and it's the only way to repair the logs

A couple of pictures of old repairs using Plastech.

Keep in mind these repairs are over 4 years old and still holding well.
