My best biking morning ever.

(Warning - this is a long, rambling post ).

Randomly woke up at 6:10 (5:10 bodyclock time) this morning, looked out the window and saw it was going to be a nice day. Checked the sunrise time and it was 6:41, just enough time to get ready and head out to Devils Dyke (just outside of Brighton, for those who know it) Quietly got kitted up with about a million layers on (also saw the temp was 1 degree ish) under my gear, and headed out.

Got up to Devils Dyke fine (I pretty much had the roads to myself), took some pics of the bike with the sunrise over Sussex - amazing views from there. Headed back around 7:00 (on my way redlining it past some travellers/pikeys ) and was about to enter Brighton again when a TVR went in the opposite direction... then another, and another, until 7 TVRs growled past. Did a quick stop, U-turn, and caught them up.

Fast forward 15 mins, and there I was early on a Sunday morning doing 110, 120mph on country lanes, in amongst 7 TVRs, all of which made my bike with it's scorpion can sound like a mouse whispering When we went though villages the grins on people's faces when they saw (and heard) the cars pass was a picture. I have to say they are fantastic cars, both in looks and performance; I'm sure if they really tried they could have left me for dead, and that's just on the straights, let alone the bends Ended up riding with them for about 45 mins, after which my hands were about to drop off with coldness, so I signaled over for the ones behind me to overtake

Just an incredible morning, won't forget it for a long while

The other day me, torque martyn and one of torque's mates went for a ride from eastbourne over beachey head, to plumpton, in to brighton and the coast road back over beachey head to eastbourne again.
The last bit up to beachey head was incredible with me chasing up torque. Weather was perfect.

Get yourself into the SE section mate. We could always do with another Winnah. Try to get on rideouts as often as possible.

On my new bike it was probably today where i discoverd to my amazement that when you give it the beans and drop the clutch at the lights the Vmax's front end lifts rather rapidly and your bowels empty twice as fast as that.

Grinning like a cheshire cat all the way home.

I did a bikesafe day around SW and was good, different to normal Sunday rideout.

HAHAHAHAHAA, best substitute for a bike, i sold a 2006 HAYABUSA to buy mine, no regrets what so ever.
OK so it does less MPG but as you said, the noise alone LOL, well worth 15mpg.

Best time on the bike that i remember (on my own) was travelling from Withernsea to Hornsea (NE Coast) along an awesome twisty road, it suddenly opens up into a massive 4/5 mile straight. Im just starting to accelerate when an almighty, apocolpytic sound drowns out everything else, and two Hercules Class Planes bank overhead, and are almost either side of the road above me, about 500/1000 feet up 9which felt SO fucking low, like 2 behomeths above me (surrounded by fields etc, probs some late evening training or something, I have no idea) the sun was setting and everything was tinged yellow/golden, and I just fucking pinned it. Was probably doing about 140/150mph (indicated) on this straight road, no traffic about, with these two huge, stupidly loud planes leaving me behind.



Was fucking epic.

In the not so many years I've lived on this planet, I've had the good fortune to have travelled many interesting miles. I have found the best of them were always the ones where you were so much more aware of your surroundings than those where you were just concentrating on operating whatever machine I was on at the time.

Flying is always going to be my favourite, but bikes are the only real affordable way of getting out and doing some distance while being so exposed to what is around you. The smell, temperature, crispness of the air. Sensations you just dont get by any other means. The ride that stay's with me most wasn't the one where I went three times over the speed limit on the way to work, or when I gave the 636 everything it had the day before I sold it, it was a ride to work at about 6:30 in the morning, probably February. I remember it was bloody freezing and I was was on the diabolical KLE. The heated grips were on but I had the front of the helmet up, feeling the frozen air numb my face. The trees were all bare and coated in a crisp layer of pure frost and a mist lingered over all the fields broken only by the occassional hedgerow or the passing of the ribbon of tarmac laid out ahead. The KLE was just humming along, at a nearly legal speed and I had about 30 minutes of absolute peace and tranquility. That's the ride that I always remember.

I no longer feel the urge to raz along at triple figure speeds, nor try and corner as fast as I can possibly manage, I just ride, and smile and forget.

Guy i worked with had a TVR Tamora for 9 months.

It spent 7 of those months in and out of the garage. It was the most unreliable car he ever owned.

He ended up selling it making a large loss. And when the buyer took the car out for a test drive, either the clutch or gearbox went. He wouldn't tell me what exactly, as he was too embarrassed.

Even today he won't have it that they are bad cars and still goes misty eyed when talking about it. Crazy fool.

They are for enthusiasts who are mechanically competent, not for quiff haired hooray Henrys with deep pockets.

The difference between a TVR and most vehicles is that TVR's do actually hold their money quite well.
What else can ya buy for that money and give such performance?? NOTHING!

Why do i have to come back at 100k miles??? The car is 14 years old and lives on the street, not in a garage. It starts when its covered in ice and sits in traffic mid summer, no issues, nowt more to prove.
