greetings all first post have read many topics since joining very good site.

i have a rf600 no problems untill i did a 300 mile trip on it on arriving i noticed my oil view had gone from max to under min i always check before any distance, so topped up and made the trip back same oil usage again.
friend followed me at home and said i was smoking blue when heavy exeleration and overtaking.

am i right in thinking that the piston rings need replacing if so i will need a head gasket as well any tips on where to buy on the net or what else i will need.

any advice greatly received i have just ordered my manual of the chap that runs this site scale 1 - 10 for how easy it is to do (if it is this).

thanks in advance

Hi

Yes, to take the barrels off you will need to replace the head gasket. Don't think Suzuki gasket sets are that cheap.

How much experience do you have in rebuilding engines? What tools do you have?

All the best

Keith

While you have it apart make sure you change the valve stem seals as well.

Hi

With the tools and the help you should be fine. Pick up a Haynes and have a read at what you need to do.

Valve stem oil seals would tend to result in the engine smoking badly when you close the throttle from speed. However they are cheap so you would be best to do those while the engine is apart.

Time for a big bore kit maybe Twisted Evil ?

All the best

Keith
