at the moment i am on a 33bhp limit, it sucks, but anyway i was wanting to do a trackday and ride unrestricted but they say it must be restricted as i must be able to legally ride the bike on the road to ride it on the track and that they would check my bike to see if it did indeed have more than 33bhp or not

this track is knockhill btw, i was wondering if they would actually check the bikes power or if it was merely them trying to cover there asses. i'd also like to know what they would do if they did check it and refused me onto the track, i assume i would not receive a refund.

You wouldn't receive a refund if they did find out no.

However I've never seen a dyno at a trackday, and they are highly unlikely to want to disassemble your bike to check for restrictors.

They are just arse covering. Don't worry about it. Thumbs Up

I've not heard that before!?

I (like lots of other people) have a dedicated track bike, ie: not road legal. I get it there (again like most other people) in the back of a van or trailer.

Who told you this?

think they were just trying to say you have to have a licence to ride that certain bike, if u have a full license you can still ride a track bike on the road if it were modified for road use, but on an a2 license you wouldnt be able to ride an unrestricted bike on the road so shouldnt ride it on the track.

goin to phone up and ask if they have any facilities to check my bikes power as i am curious if it puts out anything near manufacturers claims and if they say they dont have the facilities it should be gd.

although i think they might catch on if its not restricted if it actually goes fast lol

They won't actually care, or check, in reality on the day.

as far as the bike is concerned they wont check but unfortunately im guessing since your bike is 33bhp you have a restricted licence and that little code on the back of your card saying <25kw prevents you from racing most trackdays no matter what the bike is.

You can ride on an ACU licence but with a restricted licence you can only get an ACU licence allowing you to ride a 400cc on the track which is great if you own a 650 Rolling Eyes

Have you ever been on a trackday. It's only focused events and MSV owned circuits that won't let you out on a restricted license. Hottrax and No Limits will both let you out on non-MSV owned circuits on a 33bhp license.

I rode my full power Hornet on track at Silverstone with Hottrax when I was 33bhp.

On the ACU thing you're just talking complete rubbish I'm afraid. The ACU license and the road license are two separate entities. The 2009 ACU handbook states that a Novice license holder can at 17 ride a 250 two stroke, or 400 four stroke, or a production based motorcycle up to 650cc, and an 800cc air cooled Monster.

An 18 year old can ride a 250 GP bike, 600 class(so 600 fours, 675 triple and 750 twins) four stroke production based machine.

HTH Thumbs Up

the people ddnt seem to sure about the whole 33bhp thing, i bet if i go up there with the certificate they'd probobly accept that. the woman on the phone had never heard of it and the circuit manager just said i have to be able to legally ride the bike on the road.

Stop being so fussy about it. Unless you make a big fuss about it, I wouldnt think theyd give a shit.

They certainly wont notice you going faster because they wont be paying special attention to who you are unless you ride dangerously.

Who will the trackday company be? This will help us help you to know if youll be ok or not.

If the operator said you need to be able to ride the bike on the road, that basically means they don't care. They are just covering their arse.
