 |
|
Hi all, i've just been given a Suzuki GS500E 1999, in really good condition apart from one thing, the front Engine Mount has snapped off and is gone! & i've tried everywhere to get it cast welded back up but so far it will cost me more than the bikes worth
The Rest of the Engine is Mint so it would be a real shame to have to swap it, any advice on this would be very very much appreiciated |

How many other mounting points are there and where are they?
To be honest - its not ideal obviously - but I can't see the engine going far, unless its vibrating like a b-steward or its only mounted in one other point, I'd be tempted to leave it and just ride the thing!!
Assuming there is no physical movement there, you'll be amazed at what a good areldite job will do for you!!
You can get 'chemical metal' which is the same idea but a bit more metal orientated ... its not going to hold much load, but will give some support to aid the other mounts to do their job!! ____________________ The purpose of life is to fight maturity. |

or can you cut it out with a grinder and paint it over well enough to look like there was never one there in the first place?
front engine mount bolt is a common problem on gs500es though, I wouldnt worry about it too much, just find a good MOT tester.
Cheers

I'm with him ^^^^
Leave whats there, build it up whith jb weld or chemical metal and then maybe attach a thin aluminium plate, bent around the bolt, to the remaining casing to give it a finished look. ____________________ https://www.metacafe.com/watch/1972097/how_to_behave_on_a_forum/ |
