First car/bike you can remember travelling in/on

Its half two, i cant sleep and im bored so i was thinking back to the first car i can remember travelling in and the first bike i ever got on the back off.

The first car was when i was about 6 and it was a stunning red mk4 cortina, go faster stripe in gold down the side and really cheap piece of laminated wood for the dash. Had fantasticly comfortable seats though.

My first bike was probably when i was about 14. It was pillion on a really old and im sure really unsafe pale blue c90 ridden very badly by a friend.

What is the first car you can remember going in or if you were really lucky the first bike you went on the back of.

First car I can remember would be my dads 1986 I think Volkswagen Passat estate. First bike would be the Kawasaki AR-80 he bought for putting on back of caravan for holiday, took us round paddock on it occasionally as kids.

My parents and my grandparents had a couple of Skodas (Skodae? Skodii?)... that's the furtherest I remember back, like really old ones from the late 60s/early 70s.

The first bike I REMEMBER going on was probably an old Norton, when I was about 13 or 14. I don't remember much about it, just that it was a Norton.

First car I remember was my Grans ... some sort of Morris Traveller thing ?? ... when I was aged 3 ish.

First bike is very clear in my mind .. My dads Triton ... took me for a ride when I was 4 .... got me into bikes ... (but killed him when I was 7).

My dad had one of these. It had been quite highly tuned and was a real sleeper of a car - really fookin quick.

It's the first car I can remember travelling in, exhaust rumbling away with Dire Straits on the tape player.

Then Citroen DS estate..for obvious reasons

The first two cars I can remember are my Dad's Astra and my Nan's Chevette:

The Astra was in a horrible old man beige. The two things I remember most vividly about this car are the noise it used to make every time we drove along a certain stretch of road going past Butlins going toward Skegness, and the moment it finally died when smoke started pouring out of the steering column on said road.

The Chevette was one of the most beautiful cars I've ever seen. Whoever bought it off my Nan when she gave up driving got a very good deal indeed. Before my Grandad died, he took really good care of it and my Nan continued to do so (I think they had it from new but it was bought well before I was born). I have fond memories of my Nan taking me strawberry picking on sunny summer days when I was about 3 or 4. She was also the first person who let me sit in the front .

My first bike experience was my Uncle's 'Blade, and my Mum made sure it was my last for a long time after that. I remember him taking me from my Nan's house, up the road and back, sitting in-front of him holding onto the tank, much to my Mother's dismay. It was an awesome experience, and it probably subconsciuously embedded a love for biking in me that wasn't to show up again til I became a teenager.

First cars I remember going in are sadly Morris Marinas One was a 1975 coupe (woo!) in a ghastly maroon colour and the other was a 1979 coupe (again, woo!) in Sandglow yellow.

first motorbike was a little semi auto yamaha thing but I can't remember the model Then I rode a CG125, and then from there it was on to bike school machines...

I remember its horrible brown cloth interior. I cried when he he sold it and the bloke drove it away.

It belonged to a mate, he was less than chuffed when i managed to yank on the front brake whilst trying to do a U-turn and promptly dropped it, snapping off the clutch lever.



I then graduated to borrowing another mate's AR80:

How i never crashed and died amazes me to this day. I had no licence, zero road sense and rode it like a pushbike with an engine - i.e. hopping up onto the pavement to avoid red lights etc.

First car I remember was a puke coloured Austin Allegro 1.3 with plastic seats that you stuck to when it was hot. First bike, was pillion at the age of 7 on my Dad's 250 Superdream.
