Well the most important thing is size of the shed....
Are you using it just as a workshop or are you planning to work on the bike in there as well.
You will need plenty of room round the bike to work, so putting the workbench at one end is best. Unless you have a shed that is over 8' wide.
Even at 8' wide you only have 3' on either side of the bike in which to work.
So unless your shed is something like 12' X 8' getting a bench and a ramp to be working on the bike is going to be a real tight fit. ____________________ Just because my bike was A DIVVY, does not mean i am...... |

Interesting use of an ex-service engine block as an anti-theft anchor for the S4, MarJay - or is it actually bolted to the floor?
Oh yeah, and when you post more details about your security arrangements, can you include key-codes etc, and preferably a googlemaps link showing exactly where your lockup is ____________________ Suzuki GT250 (stolen 1980), Kawasaki H1 500 (blew up 1982), Piaggio Liberty 125 (since 2008), Moto Morini 500 Strada (since 2008), CB125T (in bits) |

Use of space.
https://gees.zenfolio.com/img/v4/p1042138007-4.jpg
At the back, there's a large shelf/second floor a little longer than a bike.
Bikes are stored underneath, then various spares are stored on shelves on top of the shelf.
To the left we have a general workbench, with vice, and various electric bench-tools. Shelf above this for boxes of bits such as bolts etc. Tool boxes below this, with bigger tools below this (welder, grinders, etc).
There's also shelves above the bit right at the front, where I've got some fairings stored.
Hooks to the right for paddock stands, wheels etc.
Can get eight bikes in there just about. Could probably make it nine at a squeeze, once I've got a few other bits out.
At the moment I've got three at the front and four at the back, but have had five at the back in the past. |

What the hell do you guys use for floor-space? I've got 5 workbenches a lathe a mill and a welder in mine and I can play ring-a-ring-a-roses around my bike. It's not all THAT big but I've been careful to keep the centre area clear. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

Coxyzxr: When you say 'pebble' floor you mean you are building it straight onto the ground? That's fine but you've got to protect the wood from ground moisture or it'll only last a few years until it's rotted through. I'd suggest laying a sheet of heavy DPM on the ground, then put the shed on that and fold it up the outside and fit a nice skirting to hide it and secure it. will keep the moisture out well that and stop weeds penetrating the floor.
For a floor, just get some bags of sharp sand & cement and knock-up a screed and put a couple of inches of that inside so long as the ground below is firm. It'll give you a good standing surface but you'll have to be careful not to gouge it too much with bike stands.
For the inside - shelving, shelving and more shelving. Strips of wood, tin shelves, old pallets anything you can get. The more shelves you have the less crap there will be on the floor. Use any up-high space coz that is always wasted - any space which will never be occupied by your head/torso is a good candidate for shelving storage. If you want to work on your bike in the shed you need to figure a space at least 2.5m square. Working on one side of a bike only is a royal PITA - I know coz when I built my 1st shed it was just 6' wide and has a bench dwn one side. The bike had to be parked along the other wall and to swap sides I had to wheel it out and turn it round. A proper mission especially for working on the suspension etc.
One good idea if you're tight of space is to leave one corner of the shed empty. That way you can push one end of the bike into the corner and get both sides and round the back using very little floor space. You can do it if you put some thought into it - my workshop is only 4m x 5m and I can get all the stuff I said above plus 3 bikes in there and still move around. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

Yup, looking at some it looks impossible to work in them. I've tried to keep mine as clear a possible. It's only a 14"x9" shed, I took the windows out and replaced them with tongue & groove like the original. I've got 3 bikes in there, a shelf for all my sprays/cleaners/etc, a bench with my tool box in it, my compressor under it, welder and other tools also under it. Got a lot of crap at the far left side though which I'll sort out.. but I've still got plenty of space to walk about (and nearly the whole shed if i take the two bikes out which is easily done.)

Also it's on a concrete base about 4 inches think, power, alarmed, secured with several locks, lit inside and out..
Just need more shelving up now and I'll be quite happy. |

Aye well those came with the bike (was completely stripped down and in many more boxes).. I just leave those on top of the bike as they're filled with bike parts for it.. so If i'm working on the bike then, they're there |
