Arghh!

First off my helmet is the Shark S500 Texas Hold'Em edition, nice helmet Smile Visors anti-fog, but fogs up! Added anti-fog foam - still fogs up! Breath deflector & anti-fog foam = 2minutes then fogggy'

Im running out of ideas and been riding a while with the visor up, also had the same problem on my Nitro helmet years back

Not got any vents on the lid, my arai has a vent infront of the mouth hole which opens up on 3 different clicks for quick demisting.

I can't believe your visor fogs up in this weather.

Should be a vent. Otherwise use a foggy mask or pinlock.

+1 for the foggy mask.

Works brilliantly. Feels weird riding without one now.

Okay I use:

Arrow Respro Foggy mask
Arrow Fog City Clear on my tinted visor
Arrow Pinlock Clear on my clear visor

so effectively, i've got 3 different products serving the same purpose. I prefer the fog city and respro combination since the film thickness of the fog city is a lot thinner than the pinlock. You don't seem to have the thick sealant restricting your peripheral vision as well as the pinlock posts obscuring your view.

Respro keeps your face, mouth and nose warm in winter when used in conjunction with a balaclava too.

Lid is an Arai Corsair btw which does have a very effective ventilation system though not as good as a shoei X11.

With the respro, keep your mouth/chin vent open at all times as well as rear vent open to aid the demisting.

Pin-lock, I couldn't use a helmet without one any more. In fact I forget it happens until I either see a fogged up visor (someone else's) or there is a thread on it.

Yeah... and THAT didn't work. In wet and cold winter morning, all it did was blur my vision. Problem was exacerbated by the fact that i wore glasses the instead of contacts. I hated havign to reapply fairy liquid and when you're out of luck, you end up using some hand lotion that has microbeads in them! Twisted Evil Lesson learnt.

Flip, did you not adjust your pinlock pins to get a better fit, or were you generally just pissed off about the fact that you had a thick rim around the periphery of the visor?

Try G-wax.

Use sparingly and polish off properly.

(I know, its a wax for walking boots but it does work. Plus, it lasts.) I did try it with some neutral wax polish but it smelled of proper shoe polish and almost had me overcome with the fumes.

So, G-wax... Also works well on the outside for stopping beading...

Thumbs Up

I adjusted them when I cleaned the insert but always felt there was a distortion there. Maybe because I wear glasses and 3 layers lens/visor was too much for it to work properly? Think my vision is a bit funny anyway tbh. Laughing

Do you wear a something round your neck, and up under the helmet, because they can stop the warm air being vented out.

All this fogging up, is it while you are riding or when you are stood still ?

Not true, i began to write about that little trick but i must have moved my mouse or something and started to write in a random place. Then deleted it all by accident, so i couldnt be arsed writing it all again so i went for the easy foggy mask option, but in the time i have explained what i did in this reply i could have wrote it again anyway. Hmmmm any way ill shut up now.
Omg i wrote that so quick my fingers are on fire .

Cool

I've a pinlock in my Shoei XR 1000 but i think I need a bigger insert as I'm often looking through the top beading.. Sad I'll see if I can adjust it for a better fit though. It might be slightly off as I'm getting a bit of misting at slow speeds.

I've also got a tinted insert (Should use now it's summer) but will buy a spare visor to fit it to rather than faff about swapping inserts over.

Best one I had was a stick-in Fog city Photo-reactive insert. Great at keeping the fog at bay and got quite dark in the blazing sunlight. Thumbs Up Cost about £30 though at the time but well worth it....

K.

I've used this stuff and it's pretty good, not if you are stationary for more than 30 secs on a cold day, but you need to reapply it every week or two.

A Pinlock really works best though, I just find them a bit distracting.

Riding and stood still, it's a really annoying thing to shift and its the time of the year for bugs in your eyes

I do have a foggy but sometimes as I put the Arai on I tend to suffocate myself when its not fitted correctly Laughing
I have a neck warmer which sits over my nose - helps a lot as my iridium dose not have a pinlock yet Thumbs Up
