Hi, new member here, got myself a cbr6 (off ebay) and need to raise the back end, I have seen the dog bones for other bikes but what does a cbr600ft need, as it hasn't got them

How easy a job is it? and is there any way of checking it is that before spending time and money on it? only rattles between 3-5k and sometimes on tickover.

That sounds to easy, I take it the 2 bolts hold the tensioner in place, can I test it when removed? or can I just adjust it? will anything nasty fall inside when I take it out? only ever worked on singles, its all new to me.

sorry dont know how you can test it but you should be able to tell by the rattle if its cam chain rattle which is a common fault with the cbr and normally turns out to be the tensioner
nothing will fall ouyt when you unbolt it

As the rattle isn't all the time I have decided to leave it for now, the fairing is due to come off soon when I streetfighter it so will have a go then, thanks.

If you raise the back end on an already quick turning bike you'll end up making it very very very unstable and slap happy.

If you HAVE to do it, then I reccomend fitting a steering damper.

I have been advised to get a manual cct now, just can't find 1 in the UK, I have sent my bar risers off to be bored out to 41mm though so i can fit my straight bars, then its off with the fairing.

I took the cct out and messed with it, put it back in with the spring fully wound then released it, started the bike and it was sweet! for about 5 minutes, rattle is back now but more prominent, would a new cct solve this or does it need cam chain doing? on 35k, ben offered a manual one, would that just strain the chain?

Manual ones are loads of hassle. Just buy a new standard one from Honda.

i opened up my cct and added a stronger spring mine never rattled again and was fine 10000 miles later when i sold it
i looked into the maual cct but decided that it would be far to easy to do major damage over/under adjusting so just modified a standard 1 as its is a common cbr problem

But my cct had reached its max I think, unscrewed it a few times and measured the screwdriver, seems the same when fitted?

it fitted over the standard spring so had both springs in there

so you think a stronger spring will do it? I shall try that tomorrow, I must av a spring somewhere, but surely the chain must be stretched to need more pressure? and why would my rattle be worse after freeing it up? hope it is the chain, just spent 2 hours cutting the fairing up to fit straight bars!!!
