ok just some quick opinions on my oil, i posted a few weeks/months ago about water in my oil on an air cooled bike and it seems to be getting worse(i post pics tomorrow after i service)

the oil is nearly white from what i can see and has been the last 2 services i have done, well now its time to do it again but this time i am going to take the right hand casing of to clean the oil fill spy glass as it is white and i can no longer see the level and also to check out the clutch as i am getting a little drag,

i was at the local bike shop(for those who know york, transit motors) and was recommended after explaining my situation to spray break cleaner in there to clean up the gundge and get all the white shit out while i have the casing off, my question is this going to help harm or just do nothing and is there any other way of getting this shit out, i have used engine flush but this time while i got the casing off i thought i try some thing to clean it up a bit better,,,,,,,

no i dont get any knocking but that could be due to the very regular oil changes at 1500 km,

i have tryed to find where it could be getting in and there seems to be know where for it to go in, there is no crank case leakage or loss of oil, the bike is ridden 5/6 days out of 7 and a good full throttle blast (only a 200 that does 90mph) for 20/40 miles once a week every week,

i have been told this could be condensation but starting to look a little suspect now,

i am going to get rid of it in the winter and get a newer one (this is 57 plate registered febuary 08) regulaly serviced but something is not right i just need it to last me to winter

could be a blockage i will check more tomorrow but not left in the rain often as at home it kept in shed/garage

it does have a crank case breather but the tube goes into a small(2cm diameter 5cm long) plastic cylinder then into the air box

Have you given the bike a good hoon lately? My spyglass went white all through winter - a good run out boiled the water off and all was well again.

Condensation can be a real bitch to shift, particularly if you have a low slung oil cooler.
I had a persistent bit in my old river 500, where it had been stood unused for a year. That was a 500cc aircooled single, with an oil cooler. Changing the oil didn't fix there problem, because there was still some gunk caught in the filter.

Simple solution was to get it really hot - probably very bad for the engine, but I sold it anyway. Take it for a short ride, then put it on the sidestand when you get home and rev it good and hard in neutral until all of the scum has gone from the sight glass, in my case this involved the downpipes glowing at the top, so they were quite warm.

Bring the revs back down slowly and shut the bike off, then drain the oil straight away. It'll piss out of there like water. Leave it to drain for a good while, you don't want to be putting the sump plug back in until it's all cooled down.

Refill the oil and see if it's any better.

I don't take any responsibility for you melting your engine.

I would drain the old out, fill again with some cheap oil and go for a decent ride say 50 miles. Then drain that lot out and change the filter and fill with your normal oil.

While short runs are the main cause of the white sludge, it can also be made worse by where the bike is stored. Remember your engine is hot when you stop, and the metal casing will cool faster than the oil. This then causes condensation inside the cases. While a normal run will clean this out, if you are doing short runs it just makes things worse.
So leaving you bike in the sun a bit to help balance the cooling can work well at this time of year.

My bike is a sod for this in winter despite a 20 mile trip each way. Its just made worse by being stood out all day while at work. So it creates more condenstation after each trip than it can burn off.

Don't use brake cleaner on the sight glass - it won't hurt the glass but it might affect the sealer that it's stuck in there with. Use a drop of degreaser or a can of WD40 and use the straw to blast around behind the metal shield on the back of the sight glass.
