How is the bike positioned when you look at the oil sight glass? , in that if the oil sight glass is on the right and the side stand is on the left then it will lean the bike over and the oil level will show as non existant.
Same with centre stands as the CBR600F's centre stand tilts the bike forward meaning the oil sight glass looks empty.
Hold it straight and level (carefully else you may have bike falling on you) and then look at the oil sight glass, also if you have one look at the oil dipstick. It should be clear oil if he changed it black if he didn't. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. warm the engine for a few mins to get the oil more runny then let it cool for a few mins so the oil runs back down to the sight glass, then check the level with the bike on paddock stand or whatever ____________________ 04 NSR 125(sold) ---- 03 CBR 600rr(sold) ----90 pan euro ST1100 ' ' ----02 CG 125

Hasn't your bike got a dry sump? The oil sight 'pipe' is on the left side too isn't it? The only way to properly check the oil on that bike is to run it up for 20 minutes or so until warm then hold it upright and check the level indicator. When I change the oil on a dry sump Aprilia I usually stick in 3 litres or so minimum and then start it up. Should end up taking around 4 litres. Just make sure you get it warmed up properly before checking. ____________________ Current bike: VTR1000F Firestorm.
