Bought another Armstrong last week, that someone had painted in a horrible yellow and purple.

1 week of riding and about 2 days of stripping/painting (preparation? What preparation!?) and this is how she has come out:

Painted the engine casings:

Not bad for a couple of days work I reckon!

Not quite finished yet, but definitely on her way. Now I just have to do a top end rebuild on MT No.1 Sad

Nice!

Just demonstrates again how a bikes colour can make it or break it.

It looks like a totally different (better) bike.

I can't be the only one that prefers how it was before?

You all prefered that yellow monstrosity? Sick Each to their own I guess.

Olive green bikes rule, truslack's are the best cause they really are ex-army models, but I don't reckon my CB would've got half the attention it did if it wasn't that colour:

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/super_jo/cbsledmere.jpg

I used to love the grins and points from little kids as it rumbled down the road, the middle-aged blokes coming up saying 'that's one of them ex-army bikes, innit?' and me replying, 'no, it's just a CB250RS painted green' and them wandering off confused.

Miss you, lil CB Sad

Sure it wasn't done in service? Some vehicles do get that Yellow.

Mostly Navy and RAF vehicles I admit... and I kind of like it!

I'd like a MT500 in sand, but that's because I first became conscious of them during Desert Storm when a dispatch rider published his diaries in BSH.

I've seen landy lightweights in the same colour (Ex-RAF), but this was definitely done post-service. (I have photos of the bloke painting it)

Interestingly the MT's were never made in Desert colours and were just splashed with paint by squaddies.

There were also 25 white MTs, and 25 red MTs made for the army. (very rare nowadays). IIRC Ariel used to have an original white MT.

White MTs with an electric start were also made for the police, and a prototype of the Armstrong MP560 was made, again as a police vehicle.
