Cheers Rob, but I live 200 miles away from my dad. Ergo, to leave the details 'lying around' would take just as much effort as to give him the damn thing!
Maybe I will just talk to him about it though.

I'm going touring around scotland next month and if my other halfs mum or my dad came and followed us out there on the last part of our trip I wouldn't be happy.
I love them to bits but it's a holiday for me and my boyfriend for us to have fun on our own with our own space as a couple.
There's things you just can't do with parents around no matter what age you are, lewd jokes etc.
They'll see eachother when they get back.

Why not ask him how he'd feel about 'people' dropping in on the return leg - doesn't specifically incriminate your dad, should give you an idea and let you know if he has anything special planned for the last bit of the trip!

I reckon as long as your brother and his girlfriend get some time in NY on their own ie. your Dad isn't going to get there the same time as them and be with them on the flight home, it'd be ok. Given that your Dad is being really kind rather than a control freak it's a great idea.

New York is just one of the best cities ever and to enjoy it with some cash will be extra special if you've been on a serious budget for a while.

Talk with your Dad about how long he stops with them, but I agree you don't want to spoil it for him either.

Don't let your dad in on the fact that you know where/when your brother will be in New York, that way he will have to ask your brother himself or get you to do it and that could accidentally give the game away.

After being travelling the nicest and best bit was going back to civilisation (in Portugal) and meeting up with my boyfriend's family and having an awesome couple of weeks being looked after, having meals out and generally relaxing.

Plus, like others have said, I'm sure your Dad would make their time in NY fantastic - especially if he gave them enough space and didn't stay in the same hotel or get on the same flight home.

In your position, I'd tell your dad your apprehension, but hand over the contact details on the understanding that as far as your brother is concerned, you had no idea what your dad was planning - you just thought he was going to send a card or something.
