Well here it is.. my first bike.. at 25!

Absolutely love it, had it just over a week now and hasn't all been plain sailing, i've been having some starting problems but getting there now i think, and when its running its crazy amounts of fun Razz

Few bits and pieces on it, tinted screen, full arrow system, acumen alarm, smaller plate.

My next mods will be crash bungs/new inlet manifold (the rubbers cracking) along with boyesen reeds and a pipercross filter, then poss a 34mm carb eventually.

Dunlop d208 gp racers going on in the next week or two aswell Smile

A couple of pics..

Ok got a few more bits together for my baby now, although shes broke again Sad She'll start and run, and idle fine, and if you rev it whilst stationary its ok, but as soon as you get up and running and put any load (above 4k) on the engine it starts running pants and then just slows down whilst misfiring until it cuts out, regardless of what you do with the throttle. It'll then generally restart again and do the same thing again!

Also the start switch is intermittent, sometimes you press it and it kicks the starter in straight away, others you can press it as much as you like and nothing, although it eventually works.

I'm going to replace the air filter, carb fuel filter, intake manifold (cracks round where the carb goes in) clean the tank filters and clean out the carb again with new gaskets/seals for the first fault, and check the switch contacts in the handlebar switches for the second, any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated on these two!

On a more positive note, i've got myself a pair of Dunlop GP Racers to go on and ive put original bar weights back on it.

I'm looking forward to doing the bits listed above, in a way, going to change the gearbox oil while im there, but would much rather just ride the thing! Oh well at least i'll know the bike..

Ta chap Cool i've since moved the tax disc to the other side so the front brake looks alot better now, emeryed the surface rust away on the middle of the discs and painted all the bolts black too.

Haha yea the plates abit brave i know.. but it just looks so rubbish full size!

Yea deffo good fun over 8k Smile mine wont even get to that at the moment though, hopefully its nothing major, it is abit fluffy between 5-6k even though the cdi mods been done Confused with any luck i can sort both problems. Can't wait to get my tyres on as both of the ones on it are square.. should feel so much nicer! Got any plans for yours?

If you are toying with a 34mm carb, then get one and a matching inlet manifold at the same time. Think the 34mm carb can be rammed into the 28mm manifold but the correct one is a bit bigger I think.

As to the running problem, first thing is put a new plug in it. Secondly when it does it open the petrol cap and listen for a whoosh of air going in. Also check the filters in the system (there is one in the side of the carb).

All the best

Keith

Thanks Kickstart, not sure if you've read the running fault on my initial post or yesterdays one, but i have put a new plug in it when i got it, when it broke down i tried riding it with the petrol flap up but it still cut out just the same, so i guess it rules breather pipes out, though i'm going to removev them and blow them through with an airline anyway.

Hi

Worth checking the filters as well. Also possibly worth draining the petrol tank just in case there is some water in there.

All the best

Keith

Cheers,

Yea changing the air filter element, carb filter and going to clean the fuel filters in the tank, i'd change them but you have to buy the whole tap and i'm too tight Razz

Yea going to drain the tank whilst i'm doing the tank filters, got alot to do thinking about it!

Hi

The air filter is a foam element that you just was, reoil and reuse.

The fuel filters are also cleanable. One in the carb is just a plastic disk with a mesh in the middle like that of a tea strainer.

The 34mm carbs have a different filter in the carb that can be a pain to get out.

All the best

Keith

Really tidy rs that, if you need a 34mm carb then let me know as I have two for sale (was using one on my bike and the other is from a friends bike so they're both soundo). No manifolds to match them though sorry.
