Other. It was icy.
Other than that I've always managed to correct my corners (usually from remembering sage advice from the good lads on here ), of course that means it is now only a matter of time... ____________________ Current Bikes: Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 (2020)

I voted other,
I went round one of my fave corners on my new SRAD and ended up with target fixation, went wide, paniced and hit the brakes, causeing the bike to stand upright mid apex, i hit the curb which make me chest the tank, breaking my 6th left rib which then punctured my spleen. i was knocked out at this point, everything else is unkown, woke up half dead, not breathing.
I was knelt on my broken right hip, my broken shoulder blade (left) and my paralysed arm lay across the tail section of my bike with me face down on my tank. ____________________ Haz ER-5, innit! |

Ermm came into quick, stupidly snatched the front brake, as it stood up, I pulled it back down, the rear swung, both wheels lifted from the changes in balance and 3... 2... 1... We have lift off. Went through sideways, total damage:-
Me:-
- Ripped the acheales (Sp?) tendon fro,m the back opf my foot right across the front, and back
- 5 broken ribs from hitting the tank when I landed
- Gound out ankle, due to bike landing on it and sliding on it,
- Near dislocated ankle, when I came to rest I was still in the riding pos and my leg was towards the back and my foot was actually twisted backwards 180deg.
- 1 week off work, still hobble like i've been bummed by big omah
Bike:-
- Nearly ripped the fairing off,
- Bent all the brackets,
- Bent exhaust into the swing arm and hit the back so hard it got stuck undernieth,
- Bent the front brake lever,
- Bent the front sub frame,
- Bent r/h rear set.
Desription don't really do the damage justice, so here's a picture.
Also my dad felt so bad about it because he was leading he paid for it all to be repaired, so in some ways a lucky escape.
Cheers

Edit: I should learn to read too... I haven't actually crashed from any of these, just at the time felt like I very nearly did.
I always feel bad posting where I have nearly died because they are always stupid mistakes which I'd like to think I wouldn't do any more...
- Racing a KTM, he overtook on some double whites, I wasn't going to knowing I had a long straight to overtake. I did the overtake and carried on overtaking nothing while catching up to the bus... coming to the end of the straight now, flat out 100mph (on clocks). Now at the end of the straight is a left hander. As I start to overtake said bus I know I can't see round this corner and that I am going be overtaking the bus while go round it. Take the risk... and two cars are coming the other way. Half way past this bus and the cars are getting way to close for comfort. Infront of and pull across with about (well felt like) 30m to spare from a 150mph head on crash (assuming they where going 50mph- the speed limit the other way). Sat myself I did.
- Going round a corner at a reasonable pace, big dollop of horse shit in the middle of my line, cue me avoiding that and becoming very close to crossing the white line while a car was coming round the corner to. The old man in the car nearly decked his car into the hedge from fright.
- One of my first few rides out on my hornet, go into a corner well to fast (well at the time it felt like it), target fixation braking hard total wrong side of the road. At the time I totally shat myself and thought I was going to put it into the hedge or a car was going to come round the corner.
- Going onto a motorway from a round-a-bout, 2 lanes on, I want to head North up the M6 which means the first junction of the slip road. I know the actual slip road has two lanes, lorry in left hand lane of the road, I assumed (never assume) he was going North and that I could go infront of him by taking the second lane on the road and then onto the second lane of the slip road overtaking the slow lorry. The lorry wasn't going North and was heading for the south slip road. Queue me being an idiot and cutting infront of this none turning lorry to go down the North slip road, it felt like the lorry was 2 meters from t-boning me. Why I did this I will never know
So yeah I'm an idiot ____________________ Past: Honda x8rs, Honda City fly, Honda Hornet 250, Honda VFR750, Yamaha xt600e.

1/ going round bend on unlit road, suddenly came across a lorry load of sand dumped outside someones house (on the road)
Sudden stop as front wheel buries itself in the sand and i go over bars followed by bike
2/ not really a crash but still fooked off the bike, doing burnout/dohnuts, bike gripped fiercely to probably a white line and next thing i know i'm off
Do 60 thousand miles a year on bikes and can't believe the total stupidity of some people, overtaking on blind bends, double white lines etc, fair enough bikes are for taking risks but continuing like that is a sure way to die in a very messy way
Don't get me wrong, i'm a courier and i'm very often (most days) heading somewhere at 140mph, undertaking and filtering but at least see where you are heading before you are heading there ____________________ Nobby the Bastard: How yo tell the difference between the actual japanese and her just screaming because she's had live fish stuck up her arse? I don't recall ever having actually crashed going round a corner. Other than lowsiding on dirt tracks while riding a road bike which is more a lesson in physics than an actual crash.
I've had a few near misses but always got away with it.
I've come off on overbanding on the exit from a corner a couple of times which is a case of loosing traction the abruptly regaining it again. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |
