Are you having a laugh??
FFS man. The entire rear floor will have to come out and you'll need a 'Z' cars style rear subframe install. For hillclimb you'll need loads of torque to compete so BUSA engines are favourite for this.
Cheapest way forward is to buy a de commisioned AUTOGRASS class 7.

A couple of the kit car boys have gone for early 90s CBR1000s - very cheap bikes these days. I don't remember how they sorted the final drive, but one of the projects is on www.locostbuilders.co.uk
Not sure if you'd have the width for a pair of straight-4s, unless you put them in sideways. If you do that you're going to need a pair of sprocket to driveshaft output adapters, and a way of taking the drive from two shafts and putting it into one diff.
In short, it'll take 3 or 4 years minimum, and costs 8 times as much as you originally thought, then be unreliable and largely undriveable. You'll wish you bought a caterham. |

i do like the idea of these projects. but i think i would get half way and get stuck then give up haha.
there is a guy around where i live. with a old mini cooper with a GSXR engine in. car is coverd in carbon fiber and goes like stink.
last time i saw him he was having trouble cooling the engine ( little air flow. he said he was deciding between an roofscoop or like side scoop things at the back for the air... ( something to think about?) and your speedo wil have to be re-caliberated.
keep us updated i forone would like to know how this plannes out ____________________ Current: Ducati Multistrada 1200s |

A cosworth engined transit very much tickles my fancy, but i'd favour buying one that someone else has poured the hassle into so I can just drive it.

If I was going to build a car for fun but not a championship winner I would steer well away from multi motorcycle engines and go for the brute force of a yankee muscle engine like this https://www.northtexasamc.com/pdf/HMM_Project_HMX_Part_2.pdf Tune that and you have a decent powerplant. The car should be there just to hold the engine to the transmition and you to the steering. ____________________ Bikers make great organ donors, get 115 on your licence today. |
