Fast cars or just high revving ones? From memory our old rover 213 redlined close to 8000rpm, noisy, not fast.

Mercedes FO110R is reputed to rev to 19,000 RPM during races and can reach 22,000 for short life runs.
A touch under 1000BHP.

Is that the thing from Cannonball run?

Type-R and RX7/8 are only two cars I can think of that have to be revved lots in stock form, that and ofcourse a bike engined kitcar. Imagine Lotus' are pretty revvy too.

depends on what you consider to be high?

my Carlton's 3.0L straight six redlined out at 7500rpm but would make 8000 if you were feeling brutal..

The German Thundersaloon touring car engine that was based on it was a nearly 4Litre straight six that went to ~9000rpm

it's all a matter of scale, my rangerover's diesel engine would, given time, rev out at a heady 2700rpm, which may not seem much on paper but with 3.8litres of cast iron thrashing around under the bonnet sounded like a train crash Very Happy

Err, diesels are catching it up. You won't get an RB to rev high without LOTS of expensive work

No! Standard RB26DETT rev limit is 8k. I don't know about GTT's but I very much doubt the Neo engine is set to over what the GTR is - bearing in mind the GTS-t's of the 32 and 33 only rev to circa 7200rpm I very much doubt it's much over that - 7500?

10k rev limit on a straight 6 = big work.

I've owned 3 of them Laughing Just now you won't find one without rotten sills.

I reckon I'll just stick to the Hondas and when money allows fork out for some JUN cams and other bits, seems to be the cheapest way to a high revving car that goes well! Them Corollas still fetch 5k plus and most are mid 80's built.

The Mitsubishi FTO is quite revvy, redlines at about 8,500 or 9k, can't remember exactly.

Why the need for high revs? Get a lazy V8.

My BMW produces more torque at 2000RPM than the honda VTEC's do at peak torque and is also producing more power at 3000RPM.

There's no replacement for displacement. Laughing

Civic VTi at the moment but I'm always changing hence thread Very Happy the limiter comes in at around 8500rpm just like the Swift but that thing seemed to just rev and rev for ever!

I guess it's the noise I like!
