 |
|
How much is the aprilia rs 125 to tax/mot? my tzr 50 is only £15 a year which is great
What sort of performance would i be getting from a 2008 restricted rs 125? 0 - 60 times, bhp/kw etc..
What are the main problems with these bikes?
If i got one with like 1000 miles on the clock, what could go wrong?
How much do you think they would be roughtly to service?
Do you need a tv licence for a tv in a caravan?
let me know, thanks ____________________ Gilera SC 125 - Current |

Hi
MOT is the same price, as is a tax disk.
Performance, realistically restricted 80~85mph and a 0-60 time of probably about 10 seconds, maybe a bit slower.
Biggest problem is people not changing the rings and them failing. Rings are cheap (~£35 last time), but it is a good few hours labour (gentle afternoons work) and then they need running in.
With 1k on the clocks you should be OK, but have no idea how the previous owner has treated it.
Service cost will depend on which service and which dealer.
Think the TV licence depends on whether it is plugged into the mains or running from a battery .
All the best

Hi
Not sure, but I suspect not. The old 9kW restriction was done by leaving off the power valve, solonoid and fitting a blanking plate. However plenty of grey imports were restricted by just disconnecting the power valve (which probably didn't bring them down to the legal learner limit).
£15 tax a year.
They never made 33hp and never seen Aprilia claiming 33hp for them (they gave up claiming power for 125s before the RS125 came out). Maybe 28~29 for an early one, fair bit less for a later one (smaller carbs and the far worse exhaust to get through the emissions tests).
All the best

Hi
Don't know with the latest ones, but on the slightly older ones.
With the exhaust the problem is not so much a restriction as just it being bunged up with a cat, etc. Probably best to just buy an Arrow exhaust, or similar.
The cdi restriction is just in the midrange. Basically a deliberate flat spot between 4750 and 6000rpm. Probably there to get the bike through noise tests. There are (or at least were) programmable replacement cdi units.
Not sure on the air filter. Thought it was just the Mito that had a different airbox lid on the restricted version but could be wrong.
Suspect derestricting it will not really make it any less reliable. Still has the same large ports to give the rings a hard time.
All the best

ive got an 09 restricted aprilia. i got it new but i've already done over 1000 miles. i didn't take it over 6k revs for the first 600 miles, and did the first service (60 quid i think). gets to sixty quite quick, not alot though. i've got mine to 85 mph so far, i think it had a bit left in it as well.
make sure that the person rid it in properely, and let the engine warm up before riding. i always let it heat up to atleast 1 bar on the oil temp before i hop on.
the cbr is really small compared to the rs, and has less power and struggles up hills. the rs is a great bike to ride and absoloutley love mine. makes you feel like a right little biker |

oh, just had a look and it is the water temperature.
and all of these 'ask yourself the question', i'd have no idea about that kind of stuff.
either way, letting it warm up a bit first can't be a bad thing |
