....were my calipers and pads. So I thought I'd treat them to a little springclean.

Now was able to get the pads out OK (Brembo's) although the little split oin that holds the anti-squeal plate was a PITA.

Now, thought I had some MucOff Brake disc cleaner left but seems I had run out when I cleaned my clutch plates last week. So used what I thought would be the next best thing or chain cleaner. Give the pads a bit of a run with sandpaper and fittedthem back in.

Tried the lever to get them seated properly and it seems to have more play than before and when I test rode the bike the action felt quite spongy. I thought it might have been the cleaner I used so went out and bought some more disc cleaner and give them all a good liberal coating in case I'd contaminated the pads. But no real improvement when I rode again.

So do the pads need to bed in again once they have been cleaned / roughed up a little? If so, how long does that take?

Or have I accidently introduced some air and need to bleed the system?

I'm a pretty inexperienced spannerer tbh and seem to be learning by mistakes

Cant understand how air has got in if you havnt opened anything up with regard to brake system, what was the chain cleaner?? you used.
If you have opened the pistons up a bit to get the pads in they will need a few pumps to move back and if theres no fluid leak around the pistons the system should be sealed unless its coincidentel timing, but since it doesnt take too long to do might as well bleed them for the summer.
