 |
|
As per the title, what sort of typical temperatures does your SP1/2 sit at at various speeds? I'm finding mine creeping past 90 if I get stuck in traffic with it rapidly pushing 100+ if I have to stop for lights etc. 40mph+ and it's not a problem, I'll rarely see it go past 85 on an open road.

I really don't look at mine but I did look the other day while crawling along on a warm day and it was between 90-100. ____________________ My bikes are at https://www.bikepics.com/members/dynamight/ |

Mine gets very hot very quickly in traffic too (B1H). I don't need to worry on mind until the temp gauge starts flashing and that happens at 120 IIRC.
I've had mine up to 109 or so before and wasn't pissing coolant out like some other bikes were. ____________________ My Flickr |

Because the coolant is under pressure it's normal to go well over 100C and that doesn't mean it's boiling.
Same principle as a pressure cooker.
Just don't take the cap off
You should be making sure the rad isn't bunged up though, squirt hose through ideally from behind - brushing is risky, some detergent helps a lot.
It's amazing how good they are at sucking debris in, fibres and dust will really knock the efficiency down |

Cheers for the replies, I'm worried it's got a bit of a slow leak which has inturn been making me a little paranoid about the temperatures. The rads themselves are clean as a whistle and the bike generally sheds it's heat nice and quickly once I get moving again, it's just slow and stationary moments that have been a bit worrying at times.

My old CBR600 hit 114 in traffic one day.
I thought it was going to explode and the engine management light started to flash.
Soon came down when moving again but I later checked the fuse to the fan and found it had blown = no fan.
Couldn't tell when on the bike as it was hidden by the fairing. DOH
I'm not massively bothered by higher temperatures these days. The Dukes fans come on at 107, off again at around 98.
Have you checked the fuses / fans are working OK.
