Hi,

The brakes on my Superdream 1980 250cc are binding as a result disc gets very hot, poor ecomomy/performance etc etc....

Tried to simply strip caliper down to sort but can't remove the pins holding the pins in.

Tried WD, parallel punch etc etc, the damn things wont budge!

Any ideas how to get these out??

If not ill have to cut the body out and drill the studs.

The brake pins are 4.75 each for a little bit of metal with a hole in the end!!

Are they high tensile or anything??

Will making my own pins be fine or should I but Mr. Hondas finest??

Cheers, Rich

added pic to illustrate, I do have a hole to get to the pin far end with a punch however the pin does not protrude all the way thru' the caliper.

Presuming you have taken the caliper off completely, have you tried heating it up a bit, and giving it a wrack with a wooden mallet?

Make sure you can get to the back of the pad's.
Those pins are held in place by something, either R clips in them, or they screw in.

If they are R clip type and you have remoed the clips, but corrosion in holding them in place, punch them out.

If they are screw in type and you have fucked the head, drill and retap them.

Well just had fun in the garage....

Cut one side of the pins so I could split the caliper and the disassembled and drilled out the studs.

Those things were NOT coming out....

Even after drilling 3/4 of the stud out I tried to punch out the remainder...

Didn't budge!!

Looks like the only way was to get violent....

New pins and piston seal now then...

Piston Cleaned up OK
