right my cg isnt working

when i kick it up it stalls......its like the power is restricted, when i ride i hear pinging sounds ?

when i get it running i have to keep the revs high or its just cuts out...wont idle anymore

dont have a clue whats up with it. Was told to change the points on it so i did with the help of my dad but that made no difference...new spark plug the same happened.

it backfired whilst riding and then packed in and i couldnt get it started again.

any ideas ?

much appreciated Thumbs Up

Check timing
Check colour of spark plug
Check carb for dirt. (may need cleaning)

check battery charge and valve clearences, if it still plays up strip the carb down for a good clean (might aswell check the fuel tap is flowing right whilst your at it).

for valve clearance check out this site:
https://hondacg125.awardspace.com/valve_clearance.htm

also if its a points model, check the points.

Check fuel for leaks/blockages.
Check Spark Plug Colour/Condition.

Also, check for any obvious air leaks.

Agree with allymoss - Have a look at the timing.

I'm going to be nice now because it takes a lot more inteligence than just saying you are a bellend or the like. and as your dad helped you with a simple procedure like changing a set of points on a CG125 you're obviously a kid..

Now on the the Bike, your CG has points so it's a bloody old one as they've had CDI for about 18 years and also if I'm not too much mistaken you have a pushrod valve opening system so after so long there is a chance they could have bent or they might just be severely worn which will put your timing out and you also said you hear a pinging sound when riding which could also point towards a pushrod problem as there is a guide which the rods go through and the pinging sound could be one of the rods hitting the guide,
So once you've done all the simple checks and found it's still not working I suggest you have a look inside and check your rods..

I never said it was Intelligent, i just said i don't care but that doesn't matter now it's over and done with..

When you get to nearly 40 it's hard to see anyone under the age of 20 as anything but a kid, but at least you ain't riding a poxy scooter so thats ok..

Your CG is it made in japan or brasil?
seriously tho i didn't think there was any of the old Points ignition cg's left anymore,
But even i learned something new about the cg the other days and thats that it now has a disk brake up front..
Whats your riding style like?

Agree with wreckage on this one and prawny1 with the valve clearance's. Also have a look at your valve springs while the heads off one may have broken.

Kinda ouch,
Just lucky then the CG is a very simple engine to work on, pushrods and two valves, springs and a set of points...
