Some of it is not so relevant but there seems to be a few good buys. Personally I'll be getting the self-inflating mattress, saving myself a few quid on buying a 'real' Therm-a-rest.

Warning though, that round LED light that's a fiver...Poundland do them...And whatever you do don't look at it then turn it on, you can't see shit for a couple of minutes, they really are bright...

I'm getting the self inflating mat too I think, 5cm ones are near 30quid in Millets when I went in the other day. Hopefully this one won't be too large rolled up

Only need one of them and one of them microfibre quick drying and small packing towels now and I'll be set for my trip in 3 weeks time! they're quite pricey too

Aldi's just not cheap anymore You can find most of that shit cheaper elswhere,or usually for just a couple of quid more get the same item of much better quality.

Lidl has gone exactly the same way...

I doubt I would buy their self-inflating mattress, I just bought one, a Gelert X-treme for £25 delivered, a good make and it's very nice, a quick test of it feels good and seems to retain a lot of heat from your body, will be properly tested over 2 weeks of camping very soon.

A lot of their stuff is expensive and you can get branded equivalents cheaper or for the same money. They do still however sell things which are significantly cheaper than anywhere else, a lot of their tools are still good value and good quality which is all I really buy from there.

Lidl i've never been very impressed with, Aldi i've had good bike gloves off and good Powercraft tools, also bought a 300W inverter off them for £10, won't get cheaper than that and its perfect.

I was looking at that the other day, seems to be smallest pack down size I've seen. 4cm thickness not too bad either, yeah let me know maybe I'm best going with one of them to go along with my Vango Banshee 200 tent which packs down really small as it'd outweigh the point of having that if the Aldi one rolls up massive I guess!

Agree the prices are going up in Lidl and Aldi. I saw a wind up radio/torch in Aldi the other week, no price but thought it'd be between £5 and £10 and it was £14.99. One was in Millets for £9.99 I think. However I went in yesterday and they had a 1 piece waterproof suit reduced from £19.99 to £6.99 which I thought was abit of a bargain! but I already have one so didnt bother.

I have an Exped downmat 9, although I have checked about for pricing, and nothing comes close to what I paid in Jan 2005. I certainly got myself the bargain of the century!!!

It is THE best airbed in the world ever. I never feel the cold from the ground because of the metallic bottom.
