How do you think a 2000+ ZX9R would handle compared to a ZXR750?
Been pondering a later zx9r for months now and finally getting most of my bad debt history cleared up. (Young, stupid )
I'm worried going from the smaller zxr750 I may lose the agility and beautiful roll in cornering I get with my zxr?
having said that the 9r is a more modern machine and one would hope chassis and suspension design has come on quite a bit since my zxr days (as good as they were).
Tbh I may just upgrade to a ZX7r but I really like the ZXr's profile and "attack mode" riding position and I honestly believe the older zxr is a better bike than the zx7r. ____________________ **WAS FITTED "WRONG WAY ROUND" !** CANT ACCOUNT FOR THE STUPID ! |

I loved my ZXR.
I loved my ZX7R.
That is all.
For some reason the 9R just doesn't do it or me for some reason and would have another 7R in a heart beat or even another ZXR if they were a little more reliable in their old age. ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |

Which did you like more the zxr or 7r? ____________________ **WAS FITTED "WRONG WAY ROUND" !** CANT ACCOUNT FOR THE STUPID ! |

I count myself pretty lucky to have owned perhaps the best of both models, an original ZXR750 H1 and a ZX9R E1.
I actually loved both. With my practical head on I'd have another ZX9. My heart says get the ZXR750...
I'd say the biggest differences are rider comfort and top end power. ZX9 trumps the ZX here every day. ____________________ NSR125RR - ZXR750H1 - ZX9R E1 - GSF600S - GSF600SK3 - VFR400-NC30 - SV1000N - ST1100-R - CBR900RR-R - GSF1200SK5 - GSF600SK1 - VFR1200FA - GSXR1000K2 - ZZR1400 D8F

Yep, it is the B model 9R engine that fits.
We had it in his L1 ZXR. ____________________ Suzuki GSX-R750K4 ~ Mivv GP |

Torquey as fook compared to the 750, certainly a faster bike for sure... I've never been in the pilot seat of a ZX9 so I don't know how it compares to the actual bike, but compared to the 750 - for road use, everyone should do it!
It has torque everywhere, I'm told a "harder top end" and it was much more friendly on the go-go juice - saying that, the L1 was almost as thirsty as my gixer (25-28mpg usual).
One thing I'd say if you were doing it, is either rebuild the engine yourself prior or get one from a trusted source or with a warrenty.
The B engine my mate got, was off some English nobjockey who had "just rebuilt it for his streetfighter but wouldnt fit" - should have known he was a fuckwit I said, as he smelled of shit.
Go for it if you like the old school looks and stance of the ZXR. Was a cracking bike when it worked.
He had issues with the wiring loom, lots of fucking around with the fueling too to get it just right.
Go for it if you think you are capable of it, if you need to follow step by step guides in a Haynes I'd maybe forget it lol - personally, I certainly would!
Still, it got a wee readers rides feature in Classic motorcycle (IIRC) twice this year.

P.S. (I think the 900 only fits the L & M models - but I could be wrong) - Edit - If Barry says I'm wrong, I'm wrong. ____________________ Suzuki GSX-R750K4 ~ Mivv GP |
