Today ‘mike – the bike’ broke down on the A406 again…this time because I had run out of oil!
Managed to park up in a safe spot and quickly dialled for help. (mood = Embarassed Mad)

As I waited ‘patiently’, a cyclist supporting oversized sunglasses and mishmash coloured clothing, rode over and stopped. Great(!) This was not the best time for someone to make nosy conversation….I don’t know how long I can maintain my politeness. He gave me a friendly greet and a wolf whistle towards ‘mike’ and asked what was wrong with him. To my surprise, he offered me his phone to call a loved one as he suggested they should know that I was stuck somewhere, to which I replied that I had already done so. He then offered to ride to get me some oil. I felt terrible for assuming horribly towards him. I declined his offer politely, thanked him and assured him that someone was going to rescue me soon, said good bye and sent him on his way. (mood = lifted Smile)

A few minutes later, I see a black R6 slow down on the road, looking over towards me. I was wondering who it could be until a few minutes later he had turned around and parked up next to ‘mike’. Was he my knight adorned in black leather? Would he magically pull out a bottle of oil for me? A prickly moustache appeared after lifting his tinted black visor.
R6: “I see you all the time, almost every morning”
Me: “really? I don’t recognise you…..”
R6: “you live on so-and-so road don’t you…….I always see you and seen you park up”
Me: “oh really, do you live nearby?”
R6: “yeh, I’m a neighbour, I live just on the next street”
Me: “small world”
R6: “yes it is, I’ll wave next time I see you………..see you around”
Me: Shocked Confused Mad Evil or Very Mad Shocked Confused

I was a damsel in distress. Did he really leave without asking if I was ok? Did he not wonder why I was parked up on a busy A-road? Did he not think to ask if I needed any help? I can’t believe he rode ALL the way back around just to make sociable conversation.

When he waves next time, should I give him the finger?

Pfft gentleman. I'd have just drugged her, and put on my plunderwear (that's my underwear I use for plundering).

Of course to save time you could wear your plunderwear on the outside of your bike gear and be "plunderman ready for action"

How on earth do you run out of oil on a 4 stroke? They dont use / burn oil like a 2 stroke. If the oil light came on, it means low pressure.

What happened exactly?

Tutton: no free meal chucked in? No blow.

Barry - Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed I haven't topped it up for a LONG while.....
'Mike' started up fine......was riding for about 10/15 mins, reachingapprox 50/60mph until it started spluttering, red oil light came on and just conked out. Restarted it.......started fine, conked out after 2 mins riding again.
Checked oil - WAS dry as a bone........my error, i'd admit Embarassed

So what exactly was the fuck up assumption made on this thread as per the title... Question

a) You assumed the bike had oil in it?
b) You assumed the cyclist was gonna be a prick?
c) You thought the R6 prickly mustache bloke was your knight in shining armour?
or d) tutton thinks stopping for maidens in distress then offering to help them out if they gave him a BJ is a good idea!?

Laughing Laughing Laughing

Ouch!!

You better hope there is no long term damage!

When you say dry, did you remove the sump plug and nothing came out, or are you just going by the sight glass on the side of the motor?

Does the oil light come on before or after it 'conks' out? ie: when the engine runs, does the oil light stay on?

Thumbs Up

Hi

The oil light coming on with most bikes means there is next to no oil pressure (Yamahas have an oil level light usually though). Running engine with no oil pressure will wreck the internals very quickly (quick enough that at high revs the warning light will probably come on as the engine goes bang).

Compared to humans, a bike running out of petrol is like a human running out of food in the cupboard, a bike running out of oil is like a human running out of blood in their body.

All the best

Keith

i'm going to be taking 'mike' down to my mechanic on saturday for a check up....I really hope he's ok

There's no sight glass so I was reading it from the dip stick - cleaned it, dipped it......little residue

The oil light comes on and then it conks out. It starts up alright and but passed out after a minute.

I managed to ride him to work......conked out once (red oil light again) in the tunnel but I ignited and he was fine. I assumed it was because the oil hasn't drained down properly (?)

Really worried Sad

Your engine is totally buggered. Get a new one or a new bike time basically.

I can only imagine that if robby had passed her on his bike a little wry cartoonish smile would come to his face as he done a casual u-turn. Mike the bike would be stashed away in a bush and Yun would be stashed away in a cupboard somewhere and we'd have no knowledge of her breakdown. My plunderwear may be dirty, but robby's would be soiled.

R6 guy was such a crap stalker, had he have been observing well enough like in stalker 101 he would have seen you where in distress and used it as his op to either kill you or ask you out on a date. he done neither.

Stalker fail.

I would slightly nod while saying "W*nker" under my lid if I seen him again. Then if he strikes up a conversation inform him of his failure. make him feel like prat Cool

I hope the cyclist wasnt in luminous colours that clashed. How dreadful for you to see Confused some people are so inconsiderate. Neutral

Fecking lol! I'd be using this phrase a lot this weekend if it wasn't for the fact I'm going to be in a kilt for most of it (graduation weekend).

FYI guys.....the engine seemed fine yesterday. I rode 'mike' home without any engine problems at all.
I will still take him to my mechanic for a once over.

lol.....Robby, with or without plunderwear won't be able to do jackshizzle. I know self defence AND I have you know my end of school year book prediction was that my future profession would be a 'lesbian mud wrestler'. I can take him down!

I find it disturbing that even after your bik actually conked out, lit the oil light, and appeared to have no oil in the sump, you still restarted the bike, and then rode it! Shocked

I mean come on, basic maintenace and mechanical sympathy; it doesn't take alot of effort! If your trusting your bike to take care of you, and not kill you when your travelling at speed, you have to return the favour and look after it!
