Silly question, but the linkage is still on the gear leaver? also does the gear leaver return to the central position or stay flopped down?
If it is not summin silly like that, then I'd say you have broken selector fork/s!!
Or does it actually feel like it is engaging a gear, just not driving?
Have you tried putting it in 2nd, or 3rd? ____________________ The purpose of life is to fight maturity. |

I would also try turning the engine off and putting it in gear, then push the bike forwards, does the rear wheel lock as the engine tries to turn over? If that's the case then your clutch and drive train are in one piece.
If the bike isn't actually going into gear, also check the splines on the gear rod and, as others have said, the gear linkage.
