need help. got no drive

Gota VFR400 NC30

went to pull away earlier just like any other of the million times i have and there was just nothing, just like as if i was in neutral.
But i put it in any gear and theres just nothing, no bite and it just rolls freely
It isnt the clutch cable and i can see the rod thats connected to the clutch cable still moves freely and theres no change in pressure with the clutch. its still springy and free.

any ideas what it is?

Check your front sprocket is still attached and the splines are in good condition.

nothing to do with the sprockets mate.

One of the clutch plates may have disintegrated.

Clutch cover off to take a look.

Silly question, but the linkage is still on the gear leaver? also does the gear leaver return to the central position or stay flopped down?

If it is not summin silly like that, then I'd say you have broken selector fork/s!!

Or does it actually feel like it is engaging a gear, just not driving?

Have you tried putting it in 2nd, or 3rd?

I would also try turning the engine off and putting it in gear, then push the bike forwards, does the rear wheel lock as the engine tries to turn over? If that's the case then your clutch and drive train are in one piece.

If the bike isn't actually going into gear, also check the splines on the gear rod and, as others have said, the gear linkage.

thanks for the replys.
Turns out it was the clutch. plates are warn.

Just strange how the clutch never slipped but went from being fine to not. normaly when they wear they start to slip.
