Right there's a small problem I'm having here with the internet explorer. After I click in the address box to enter a different site, I get an error message as soon as I press any key and the explorer window closes. At the minute the only way I can access different sites is to write the address in the Google toolbar search box, and then copy and paste it into the address part. This though, is pretty annoying.
Anybody know a solution? Confused

Have you run Adaware and your virus checker? This could be one problem. I had one the other week that no matter what address I typed I got re-directed to a porn site!

Right well the thing is, for a start it's windows 98 and I've checked the disc but cannot see the IE setup/installer anywhere. Sad I tried looking in the control panel for it so I could re-install it but either I am blind or the dumb blonde theory may really work. Confused

Control Panel, Add/Remove programs, then select Windows Components. Click on IE and I think it can run a repair. Should sort it out.

Cool

A hint for anyone with similar problems next time is to check whether you have any third-party browser extensions causing problems. There is a setting in IE to disable them.

In IE, Go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced and then untick the box that says 'Enable third-party browser extensions'

If IE won't even start you can also access this setting via Start Menu -> Settings -> Control Panels -> Internet Options

This is an all or nothing setting, the current version of IE does not allow you to selectively switch off and on individual extensions (also called Browser Helper Objects or BHOs). You can however get third-party programs to do this.

Of course, problems like this can be avoided entirely if you use a better browser like Opera for instance... Wink
