Well, I find myself here - not a place I visit frequently. Anyway my shiz:

I want a career, I want something that's varied and active/on the go/adrenaline-y. I'd considered some kind of stunting thing, like a stunt double. I adore racing, how would one find out about getting into it to see if they have what it takes?

I'd looked into instructing skydives when m0l0t0v was on about it, too dodgy for me, I want an industry that will always be rich in cash for stability. I've been told to do mechanics, but it bore's me, I'm a bit of a PC whizz but that too bores me after 10 mins.

Anyhew I need Something that makes me go to bed fucking loving the idea of waking up and going to work. Maybe I need a bike? My old one used to be the highlight of my day; the commute.

Another side note is the RAF, but it's a 9 year service commitment and when I've chatted to people Iv had mixed views

You know about websites, how about specialising in some other field, like procurement? Most companies will always need to get stuff, and know how much they have got, etc, etc. You might not find it particularly pleasing to begin with, but with time you can build relationships with all kinds of companies. Large companies, with many employees. Who might be looking for more staff....

Maybe you're looking at it the wrong way?

Not everybody enjoys their job. Some simply use it as a tool to afford to do pleasurable things in their own time.

I am coming to the conclusion (having completed ten years in my current job) that I'm unlikely to find that 'dream job', but that also it doesn't really matter to me.

Do the 9-5, pay the bills, then you can spend the rest on whatever floats ya boat - biking, parachuting, travelling, partying, whatever.

Once I leave the office on a Friday I do not think about work until Monday morning. I like it that way.

But yeah, 9k is utter pish. I'd change that sharpish if I were you.

Why not jack it all in, pack a rucksack and head off for Koh Pha Ngan (for example) in southern Thailand, and book yourself in for a course of Scuba Diving lessons. Work your way into the role of instructor.

Or, get yourself down to Gosport, do a week's Sailing qualification (I forget what it's called now), then put your CV onto the MANY yacht charter sites, and take the helm of a yacht, OR, cash in everything you own after you get the certificate and head out to SEAsia and buy yourself a boat, and become a skipper of a sight seeing type adventure.

Or, get a working visa and go travelling and working around Australia, or NZ, or Canada.

I agree with the working/travelling your way around the world idea. When you're older you don't have as much opportunity to do it, so now is the best time.

I know lots of people who've done it (did it myself only not in a massive way) and not one of them regrets it. Also, it gives you a lot of food for thought about what you might want to do when you get back too.

As well as everything else, it tends to make you more of an interesting and balanced person!

Why not just get one of the agency jobs paying more than 9k for now? Then you will at least be less skint while you figure out where to go next.

£6/h for building websites is utter wank. Minimum wage is £4.77 for your age, so you almost may as well be at Maccy D's.

I've got a friend in the Army, does nothing but jump out of aeroplanes (with a parachute, of course). He got all his training from the Army and even did his instructor's course.

Plus being sent to Afghanistan to get shot at would be pretty exciting.
