Fast 125s?

I'm after selling my Peugeot Speedfight 100 '07 plate, and buying a 125 (Geared)

Any suggestions for a cheap(ish) fast(ish) 125? Very Happy

I just sold an RS125... they go like shit off a shovel but they are exactly that, shit.

They fuck up more than they work. Constantly have problems mechanically. I went through 2 pistons and 3 cylinder heads in the space of a year. Was always something wrong with it.

Although they look nice and they're fast, avoid the RS125.

I dunno about speed wise but what about a YZF 125 or Cagiva Mito?

Thats the thing most 125 2smokes have been kained in previous owners hands, mine was fine for 3 or 4 months then the temp gauge shot to 95 while bumbling at 60mph total loss of compression, scored barrell, scored piston, ignition coil blew itself, fried ignition coil wiring, killed conrod and crankshaft bearings. So bottom and top end plus some electrical in one seizure.
Hard to know when its going to happen really, as that had great compression, always had super unleaded and Castrol TTS, and was always warmed to 65 degrees before any engine labouring happened. didnt save her Crying or Very sad

I've got a derbi gpr 125

had it since new, it's due for it's 1st MoT in sep had a couple of probs that were sorted out under guarantee, but the engine has never missed a beat

I've had 93 out of it, but last time I took it in for a service the mechanic told me he'd noticed the powervalve cables were really slack & under adjusted so he'd sorted them out & the damn thing won't go above 77 now

it's going in for it's next service, next week & I will be telling the cnut to put the powervalve back how it was & leave it alone in future

as above, theyre truly under rated for some reason. people seem to favour mito's and rs's for speed although theyre all capable of a ton un-restricted.

I used to have a Cagiva Raptor ... bought it brand new, within a week the speedo cable had snapped. Never did get it fixed cos I couldn't get the dealer to order the part.

The bike felt fast though.

I had an RS125 when i was 17, in 4 months the speedo cable snapped, engine losts loads of power and it threw a gearbox.

as already said look nice, go nice but dont work nice.

Honda NSR

or failing that go 4-stroke and loose a bit of speed or be a man and pass your test and get something quick (like i did)

well i have been working a standard 47 hour week since i was that age, and over 20k.

Is alot of money at that age, i brought a 1 and a half year old Ducati 749 S at 19.
