Got an illegal exhaust. There's no way I'd get rid of it. Got a telling off for my number plate some weeks back now and I've had the legal one back on since. I don't think I'll put the illegal one back on either. ____________________ Honda NSR125R -> Suzuki GSXR400R GK76a -> Kawasaki ZX636 B1H -> Honda CBR400RR NC29 -> Nothing |

Yeah I agree with the plate stuff. I'm on a normal plate now. The little one came with the bike.
What's the deal if you have an accident and you're wearing an illegal visor? Can it be used against you so you can't win a claim? Just something I've been wondering about lately. ____________________ Honda NSR125R -> Suzuki GSXR400R GK76a -> Kawasaki ZX636 B1H -> Honda CBR400RR NC29 -> Nothing |

as far as i understand it (and i might be wrong) if anything illegal on the bike or you can be attributed to the accident you will probably get had for whatever your missing AND the insureance company will not pay out...
for example say somebody drives out of a junction in front of you, (assumeing its totaly their fault) your wearing your 70% tint visor, the insureance company can claim you did not see because of the visor and will not pay out anything, you will then have to bear the cost of your bike, their car and any other costs, your fault or not... also you get sent to insureance hell for a few years and the coolest bike you will be able to afford is a honda90.
If you really need to have a better tint either get a helmet with a visor built in (can be as dark as you like as its not the primary visor) or sunglasses. ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |

Hi
An insurance company might try and get out of paying up for anything illegal, but they will not get away with it. Basically they are liable anyway, but can try and claim back from you, but when it came to court they would loose if they tried claiming back everything due to a dodgy visor.
As to illegal plates and the like I don't think any of the bikes have blatantly illegal ones. The plate on the FZ was on there when I bought it in 1990 and is the correct size but the letter are made up of black and grey lines. Been pulled up by a copper checking for illegal plates and they didn't even mention it.
Exhaust wise the Bandit has a removable baffle. Currently running with the baffle in place as it is too much like hard work keeping it quiet otherwise. Not really worried about using it without the road legal baffle but consider it rude to not try and keep the noise down.
I have an illegal silencer for one of the Freccias but not using it at the moment. Ironically it is quieter (when freshly repacked) than the standard legal can. Have a similar can for one of the Aprilias and never had any problems with that, and again it is not noisy. Suspect both of these can were actually legal as far as noise level, but as they were never sold in the UK they do not have the required BS stamps.
All the best

I'm not sure about the exhaust on my bike tbh. It's a Remus end can with what appears to be evidence of having some words polished out. Totally unsure though as to whether it is a race can or not It came with the bike from a dealer and they MOT'd it happily enough.
Nice noise though ____________________ NSR125RR - ZXR750H1 - ZX9R E1 - GSF600S - GSF600SK3 - VFR400-NC30 - SV1000N - ST1100-R - CBR900RR-R - GSF1200SK5 - GSF600SK1 - VFR1200FA - GSXR1000K2 - ZZR1400 D8F
