Had a chain let go last night

After doing some nice fast A and B road riding and a short spat on the motorway. My chain snapped pulling away from the lights on the motorway off-slip. Im just thankfull it went there and not on the motorway, the thing is the chains less than a month old and has done under 200 miles, I've emailed the seller, so hopefully he will get back to me soon. This is the email I sent-

I recently purched this chain from you, I fitted a couple of days after you sent it and went for a 50 - to - 60 mile ride. When I got back I rechecked the tension and inspected the chain, everything was perfect. On the 30-06-2009 my wife gave birth to our first son, as you can imagine the bike hasn't moved since untill last night when I went for a ride. I checked the chain, aswell as other things before I set off and everything was perfect. After about 60 miles I decided to head back using the motorway, about 15 miles from home I left the motorway to ride the back roads home. Upon pulling away from slip road trafic lights, I changed into 2nd and heard a nasty noise and the back wheel locked-up. I reacted quickly, pulled in the clutch and coasted to the side of the road. I'm shocked that a new chain with less than 200 miles on it whould break. Im just glad it went were it did and not at speed on the motorway 2 minutes before. I not happy about the quility of this product.

Was it a split or rivit link? If the first did you fit the clip pointing in the right direction? What make of chain was it?

I thought if it snapped at splitlink/softlink it was nearly always the fault of who ever fitted it, as theyve not fitted it correctly.

What bike is it?

What condition is the cush drive bearing in?

It was a tripple S chain on an Rf600r it was a split link fitted as per the the little digram on the box and was well lubed

Surprised you got a split link with a 530 chain.

Have you still got the box showing the diagram and the spec of the chain?

I'll check the shed for the box, I asked for a soft link but he said the split link is upto the job.

lesson learned, will get a decent chain next time. anyone rate iris x ring chain?

Triple S are definitely shit, a mate of mine had one fitted to his Blackbird (soft rivet, not split link of course) and it snapped in under 2000 miles with a working scott oiler fitted. Another mate had one go on a CBR600.

When it comes to chains, pay the extra and stick to a decent make or OE kit.
