 |

Jesus, some times I think I should be in a funny farm. I recently changed from a Hornet to a CBR, and I think I must have forgotten how the hell to ride! At low speed, I just can't control right turns now. Coming out of a junction, I've nearly put the bike down about a dozen times so far. It just seems like taking off while turning right is not something the bike can do...
I've looked close at the bar on full right lock, and there's not enough room to get my fingers under the throttle, so that's part of it - but I'm increasingly worried it's just me being a spaz.
Tonight, I went for a blast - no dramas there, all fine. But on the way back I found an industrial estate and thought I'd practise my junctions. And I put my foot down on about 1 out of 5 times. It just didn't feel like I was getting better, either.
So, my thoughts are just to practise right junctions every ride, for 30 mins until I don't get one wrong. Anyone else like to chip in with wise words? |

Try stop at an angle so you dont need to turn the bars to full lock to come out ____________________ m0l0t0v wrote: Chris, just so you know, JD is a nutter

Shouldn't you be doing a wheelie around every corner now you're an expert?
It'll be to do with balance no doubt and where the weight is different, it'll be throwing you out. Practice I guess until you're so experienced you can change bike easily and adjust quickly. It's probably confidence too, as you're clearly a bit worried by it now and if you're anything like I was when I first started out, I'd tense up in anticipation of a right turn, as I knew it'd be painful ____________________ 'The core of a man's spirit comes from new experiences'

As Chris-Red said, clip ons are an arse.
You'll adapt your riding style eventually, the hornet is fair easier at full lock.
I also never use full lock on sports bikes, unless I'm doing a U turn because I can't open the throttle at all on full lock on the ZX6, there just isn't enough room so you have to coast round. ____________________ My Flickr

Strange you mention it, I had a problem yesterday turning right at a T junction. Traffic was busyish, just staggered enough so that when the left was clear, the right was busy - bloody annoying. A gap appeared that I could take if I launched quickly, and in doing so I noticed a sunken drain cover by the kerb. I think it was target fixation, but I ended up going over it as I used the whole width of the road to do a simple right hand turn ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you. As already said, you need to adjust your road position. Doubt I have ever used full lock on my bike apart from when pushing it ____________________ Fallen Angel "Nae sniffing my seat now!!!!! "

Never had any problems on my 95 CBR other than it does have the turning circle of supertanker or at least feels that way in tight spaces
Mind you ive not ridden a non clip-on bike for many years so it might just take you a while to adapt.
Try not to think too much about what your doing and more where your going an it should come naturaly in time ____________________ (L)users...Disk space is to good for them.

Cheers guys, that must be a first, no 'standard' BCF posts! I'll try to adjust road position and the throttle hand position thing too.
I'm also surprised nobody has asked me what a Wazzock is, must be a more mature BCF audience. Nobody else can use it though, it's an UnknownStuntman trademark, for now. |

So we can only call you a wazzock, and no-one else?
How about the full "gret useless spawny-eyed parrot-faced wazzock"? ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you. Don't take it personally.
