Doug showed me a beer spoon trick 2 days night effectively he places a long thin spoon handle into the open bottle of beer, 12 hours later after we woke to killer hangovers the beer was still very much fizzy and not flat at all. Well rather HIS beer which he had used a spoon on was not flat, while mine (same brand same amount left) had gone completely flat.

Erm anybody care to explain how this works? ..... its sort of like the olde beer drank through a straw gets you more drunk in that there appears to be no logical reason for it. Ie why would a spoon handle do that?..

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

They did this with champagne on Mythbusters and apparently the spoon trick doesn't work at all. They found the corked champagne was much fizzier.

even partially blocking a beer bottle, would reduce the degree to which it goes flat, doubt it would be as good as completely blocking the top of the bottle though

Isn't there a trick where you can put your beer glass against the wallpaper in a pub in the corners of a room and it'll stick?? saw something about it somewhere

It does work I tried it on a bottle of beer myself in a hostel fridge (Where I am the only person who is staying here).

It was in a fridge, the lower temperature retards the loss of Co2 from the liquid.
