?3000...but what bike should I spend it on?

Hi guys, I'm after a bit of help as I'm a bit stuck...

I've sold my fireblade streetfighter but the bike I was going to buy ended up being a no-go...which leaves me with (around) 3k in my pocket but no bike in the garage.

Here's the dilemma - owning a 'crashed' streetfighter gets you a lot of bike for your money but this time I'd like something simple and 'non crashed'. Sadly, that leaves and the obvious replacements (e.g. new shape Tuono/Speed Triple, FZ1) out of my price range...there's always the older models of said bikes but they just seem, well, not as nice...What bikes would you recommend?

It needs to be an upright(ish) riding position as my wrists are made of glass.

I've no idea why anyone would reply to such a self indulgent topic so if you do Thumbs Up Much appreciated!

What sort of cc you looking at?

Ive got a Speed Four going for £2k? Pretty upright and if still not good enough a lot of people put renthals on Thumbs Up

The fireblade was my first litre bike but I'm easy cc wise...600cc and up really - anything that gives a convincing 'sports bike' feel without smacking of budget parts.

Fully adjustable suspension and TT600 frame and engine in the S4

How about either a) using your back to support you, because the weight shouldn't be going through your wrists anyway Smile, or b) getting an sports bike then some of those high-rise bars? £3k will buy you a reasonable earlyish (but not too early, if you shop around) R1, or gets you into GSXR1000 territory too. Plenty of options in the 600cc range.
I was considering making some DIY-style bar risers for my ZX9, but worked out my upper back problems could be sorted by changing my helmet, which was cheaper/easier (as I just needed a new visor for a lighter helmet I already had.)

Sadly my wrist issue is not about weight, more about the tendons/nerves running through them; the 'race' position exacerbates the problem. I am considering risers - it'd be a good compromise between 'fighter' and 'out the box'...guess I am/was holding out for the 'out the box' option though...
