MOT Oops!

Decided to sort out all the piles of papers at home yesterday, you know the stuff - bank statements, bills, insurance documents, crap, crap and more crap that have piled up over the last couple of years. None of it really important, except for one thing - my bike MOT certificate!

Noticed it had run out middle of June! Thankfully all the cop cars I've had following me at various times over the past month or so have never run the usual checks on my reg. The bike was MOT'd again last night and I'm making sure I won't forget it next year... never realised the bottom of the certificate has a little sticker you can peel off!!

Lucky is definitely the word of yesterday...

I can beat that - I assumed the KTM's MOT ran out with the tax (I've not had it a year yet). It didn't. It ran out in February. I discovered this last week.

I did the same, MOT ran out on the RS125 at the begining of March and I only clocked on in the middle of May.

Damn, I'm just a beginner at this!!

Also to add, went on holiday in the car this February and got stopped on the motorway, turns out the MOT ran out the week before and we didn't realise!! Thankfully managed to get it done the day after whilst on holiday... still got the £60 fine though...b'stards...

I was driving my car MOTless for a few months this year too, it's easy to do but look at it this way, it's extra MOT time for free as long as you never got caught

I'm not sure when mine ran out, when I found out it might not have one I naturally stopped riding it until I could get it MOT'd. Currently I'm giving the bike a massive maintenance work through and clean up *write's post with dirty hands*

The wife had been driving without MOT for a year - I thought I'd done it, but it was my car I had the certificate for. Didn't realise until it was due again.

It was purely by chance that I was going through the paperwork though.

This thread prompted me to check my own MOT and what do you know? The Blade expired in November.... eeekk!

I've been riding the little RXS loads so I've not been putting too many kittens at risk, but I'll be getting one asap for the Honda.

It sounds like I'm probably the most organised here, I have one of those cases that when open has several separate sections. All my paperwork is kept in there. So there never is a pile of paperwork to go through.

Also when I get a new diary, I go through the old one and write down important information in it.

Not very exciting to be organised but fantastic for the CV!

Before I went to Spain on my trip I had a date set in my head for the car MOT running out, so thought I would check it. This was end of June, I found out it had ran out in March so 4months out!

The next day I had it tested and it failed on:

All brake pipes
Front Brake Pads
Rear Shock mount needed some welding
Rear Shock
Rear Wheel Bearing
Full Exhaust (it was blowing too much, too loud, and too many emmisions)
Rear Tyre had a cut in it

I was going to sell it the next month, but the cost of that stuff that needed doing, which I had been running around in it in that condition! I wasnt going to get anything back ...and so it went on Ebay

Couldn't believe I had been running it around for 4months though, just had a date set in my head, I'd had cops behind me and stuff, yes I knew about the exhaust being abit blowy, and the brakes not being very good but not all of that!

Mine was for an RS125, failed on rear footpeg missing? I explained I only had a provisional and I couldn't even carry passengers anyway but he said it needed another one.

I spent most of the day running round like a lemon trying to get one so I didn't have to pay for a re-test and finally got one at some place but it was from a newer bike so they fucked about for about an hour welding shit and drilling it.

Finally got it back and sorted it. I said to him, why the hell does it have to have one if I can't carry passengers? He said, "It's not the rider, it's the machine" which was a fair point. Then he said, "You either have to have both of them on or non at all."

Why the fuck didn't he tell me that in the first place? I would of told him to take the other one off.
