Hi folks, just looking for a wee bit of help here.

One of my forks on my 05 GT 125 comet got pitted and has wrecked the fork seal, to the point i'm getting the black rings of doom. I've tried finding a replacement fork, but looks like 250 quid just for one of em in the very few places that i've seen selling them. I'm wondering if there is a cheaper way to fix this, like rubbing down the pit with emery and then changing the seal. Possible?

I had a look at startright, thats where i got the origonal prices from. Is there no cheaper option? I really can't afford to spend 550 quid on a new set of forks, which is what they sell.

You could clean and fill the pit with some epoxy resin and then smooth down. You would then need to replace the seals and oil. As well as fitting some gaiters over the top to protect the forks from getting worse.

You can also get them replated, not sure on the cost.

I guess front forks are one of them items that don't crop up to often on ebay and most bikes will have front end damage.

iooi's idea worked for me.
I used a file to smooth the pitting off, then use use a needle to pick out all the oil/crud from the pitts then use ideally belzona molecular (araldite also works) to fill the pitts.Rub them down smooth and jobs a good 'un.

The ones i did with araldite are still going strong now about 1 year on Thumbs Up
