 |
|
I've been sleeping a bit odd the past few days, sort of waking up with a start several times in the night, with heart racing that takes a fair while to settle back - then after dropping back to sleep, x-time later doing it again - can't really remember what I was dreaming at the time (could straight after, but not now), but not nightmares as such, just situations of heightened awareness, perhaps caused by anger or frustration in the dream?? IIRC.
So then sleep experts, what does it all mean??
I have had this cycle a few times now i.e. get these sort of periods, then go back to normal undisturbed sleep (bar night-time loo trips ).
Could it be a medical issue? perhaps early warnings of cardiovascular problems?... or a psychological issue? - gone MORE nuts!?!
Or does it mean nothing at all and I just need a bit of slapping about?!!? ____________________ The purpose of life is to fight maturity. |

I think there's more to it than you make out
Have you ever poo'd yourself in bed? I think the fear of a repeat incident is disturbing your sleep patterns (hence the loo breaks)
I prescribe a nappy and an aversion to watching scat films for a while
On a separate note you could have night terrors. You under any stress? ____________________ VFR FI 2000- Shiney Red Thing

I don't have a problem getting to sleep, just staying asleep ... I am concerned this waking up with a racing heart, where I can actually feel my chest pounding an the pulse in other parts of the body is actually a sign of something medical that I need to take heed of?
If it is just mental issues, then it all makes sense!!
I am also intrigued if this sort of behaviour 'means' something to a dream psychologist type person if it is just mental ...
Is there anyone out there that has anything useful to add? ____________________ The purpose of life is to fight maturity. |

I would of said nightmares, but as you reckon you vaguely recall them not being, it could be lucid dreaming...
If you're not used to it, when you start doing it and realise you get excited and wake yourself up apparently ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...

Cheers guys - some useful stuff coming now
Been doing a bit of google-fu ... it might even be early signs of diabetes ... and all sorts of other horrible stuff!! It does prove not to look at a medical books/e-books or you become a hypochondriac!!
Or it could be simple anxiety/frustration about summin ... perhaps it is lack of love from BCF??
Bearing in mind its as if I was in a real heightened state of alert ... just a though - is it possible to have an over active adrenal gland or summin that has to occasionally purge itself? ____________________ The purpose of life is to fight maturity. |

Yes, it's called Cushing's syndrome (or Cushing Disease if you have a tumour in your pituitary gland if you want to get technical). If you had that, you'd be noticing a lot of other symptoms way before the problem you're currently experiencing. I'd say the same for diabetes as well, you'd notice increased thirst and increased urination prior to waking up with a start nightly.
An alternative could be a pheochromocytoma, but again there would be more notable symptoms than that which you describe.
May I point out at this moment in time that I am not a doctor, but could be talked into doing back alley abortions and kidney transplants if the price is right.
