That's a big excess Mr!

You fill in form from insurer, you'll need a crime number from police.

After a very long time they will get back to you and offer a cheque which is much less than it would cost to replace and probably less than you might have got trading in at a dealer.

You don't accept this but make a fuss and rant down phone.
You might get their offer increased to about halfway bewteen their original offer and you restimate of it's value.

Don't give up hope of it turning up though - it's not that unusual but it would be miraculous if it has little damage.

Do you know what Excess means? you must have agreed to it when you took out your policy.

It means you agree to anything just to get that extra £100 off your premium.

Well I suppose I just learned a big lesson. I was earning a really good wage when I bought the bike, lost my job about two months ago and havent worked since.
I was thinking I had some cash tied up in the bike, if I ever needed it.
Now I dont.
At least Ive still got the clothes on my back.

Theives are the bane of anyone who bought anything.

I hope you find it, and crush the scum that stole it, same as I think anytime somebody has their machine stolen.

But yeah, a £950 excess is a bit steep to say the least, that means if the bike was worth £2000 market, they will give you £1050.

Bike was worth about 3k (there's a few on biketrader same age , milage, condition).
So I may get near 2k. Take a insurance renewal out of that ( runs out next month) and Im left with enough cash to buy a heap of shit

I wouldn't bother insuring it again... It's gone.

Yeah, 2k will get you a decent bike, probably wont be as new as the one that was nicked, but so what? Some fucker will just steal it anyway

Fingers crossed for you
That you either get it back or they fall off it and die over a period of weeks due to exposure while cows in the field they are laying mangled in eat their bollocks

Lesson learnt I think on the value of a low excess, even if you do have to pay a bit more. I had to pay £40 more to reduce my excess by £250, but knowing that my bike is worth about £4,500 and is fully comp it is worth it.

EDIT If you do get it back and the damage is less than £950 don't claim off your insurance, repair it yourself.

woah, hold on.

A 950 theft xs? Are you sure?

That seems extremely high, theft xs is normally fixed on a policy and is NOT affected by increasing the xs to reduce premium.

sounds to me that is a combination of compulsary xs, voluntary xs and possibly young drivers? In which case none apply, ONLY the F&T xs.

Double check your paperwork

Agreed with kwacker6r. My TT policy excess is £450, however Fire and theft excess is £200-£250 IIRC. Just check your policy wording and I'm sure you'll get a slight relief, though it's only softening that big smacking blow.
Karma Hope they catch the scum.

I feel for you mate!

My mate had his duke nicked and his excess was £900 if stolen etc, it made me check mine out as didn't really pay that much attention to it when I got it just wanted the cheapest insurance as possible and mine was the the same so called up the insurance company and it cost me £40 for the year to change it to £250.

Bastards!

Hope you either find it or get a decent offer!

Damn...sorry to hear that mate. Bastards! London is absolutely ridiculous with motorbike theft...It's shocking the measures bikers have to take to prevent their motorbikes getting stolen and they still nick them.

I think you'll struggle to get £3k for it. The 2003/2004 ZX6R routinely goes for between 2600-3000.

If you keep telling them its worth more, you usually get more than its worth.

I managed to get £1400 plus the bike back. (not much damage)

This was 8 months after buying it for £1000.
