 |
|
I went to collect one of my bikes from the bosses garage last night and I drove there without a problem. My wife drove back and within half a mile the car had started chugging when coming up to lights. I caught up and followed and it seems to run fine at speed but whenever she came to a stop or slowed down to a crawl the car would shudder and chug like it was about to stall although it doesnt actually stall.
I know the obvious answer is not to slow for anything
The car is a 96 mazda 323f and I was wondering if anyone could give me a few pointers on where to begin looking when I get in this evening. ____________________ And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?

It's hunting on tickover. Sounds like the exhust is blowing when you pull away but that vanishes at above about twenty.
Thanks Finglonga. Will check the idle control and I'm going to check there are no perished pipes. ____________________ And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?

Thanks Phoenix I've been looking around on the net for ideas and hadn't come across that one. It does sound like a possibility but the car itself isn't worth the price of fixing that so if it is the car goes in the bin.
Now to find out how to test for a blocked injector ____________________ And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?

No management light on and the blowing sound is coming from the end of the exhaust no holes along it or anything but it just sounds just like it would do from a hole along the pipe. ____________________ And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?

It turns out it was indeed the idle control valve, thanks again Finglonga.
Tried cleaning it to no avail so I've unplugged it and it now idles without stalling but has brought a flashing hold light up on the dash. The car seems to drive absolutely fine again now with the only exeption being that it seems to stay in gear longer before changing up ( its an automatic so sounds like im reving the nuts off it at low speeds ).
The car itself isn't worth getting a new part for and ill just get a new one at the end of the month but was wondering if this one is ok for my wife to drive in the mean time. ____________________ And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?

I had some Maplins electrical solvent cleaner around so I tried that. I was a little unsure how harsh a product to use. ____________________ And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?
