 |

Sorry for the expletive in the title but I just wanted to convey they amount I don't know about tyre choice (Or maybe its how much little i need to know )
I haven't ridden (regularly) for about a year, and before that I lived off race scrubs (Supercorsa's raceTech's) for a good few years, and before that whatever the bike came with or wore the rubber down to the canvas beofre selling the bike.
So, Yamaha FZ6, naked, like corners and fast twisty riding (possible trackdays) with regular crappy commute in raining and through town. (There won't be a lot of long distance riding or Motorways).
Any ideas? Cost isn't and issue.
Been looking at Supercorsa's (lots or makes) BT014's or is it 016's now?
Shrug.
Cheers

Pilot Road 2s are what I would suggest. They just handle a trackday ok as long as you don't blat it too much.
(Or just get a second set of wheels with scrubs on for a TD).
And yes the 014 has been superceded by the 016, although there may still be old 014s kicking about. ____________________ My Flickr |

Will second the road2's
Last well, mine did 9k on my 02 zx6r adn there was still a few hundred left on the front.
Found them more than grippy enough for track days as well, though maybe a road2 rear with a 2ct front would be better. ____________________ https://www.timhastingsracing.co.uk/

Another vote for PR2's
The guys at FWR (London tyre dealer) reckon they are about as sticky as full on sport tyres from about 3/4 years ago, but being the dual comp you get longer wear in the middle.
Was very happy with mine and a mate got some (who likes to push his bike more than me (!)) and is well happy with them. ____________________ Love is 1050cc |

Sad, I know, but here's their story with pics
Right, time for a change, or so I thought. Now done around 9K on them, faultless throughout and here are some photos of the tread as is:
Front - a good few miles left in this:

Rear - showing some damage, but close to the wear markers in the centre

3 track days in total and probably the majority of the miles doing this route.
Would buy another set in a minute, possibly try it with a 2ct front, but curiosity got the better of me and I', going for the Maxxis Supersport - just to see how different sticky tyres feel, if at all. Being scottish, will be asking for those road2s back, once they are off, just in case... ____________________ https://www.timhastingsracing.co.uk/

Said pretty much the same before. Rare I use anything but touring tyres and can still upset people on faster better handling bikes with sticky tyres. Case in point the bloke on the 02 R6 last week in black leathers going from the A2 onto the M25. He seemed a bit surprised as a top boxed ER6 went around the outside of him. |

i know most people dont 'need' sticky tyre's and would be fine on touring one's but for me i like to know the extra grip is there, it's more for piece of mind i think.
I used to use pilot sport's all the time but having recently moved to diablo corsa's my confidence has grown quite dramatically, for me stickier tyre's just feel better, even though i was probably no where near the limit's of the pilot's they just didn't feel half as capable as the pirelli's do
i suppose what im trying to say is. I would rather be be using half of what a sticky tyre has to offer than most of what a touring tyre has, even if it cost's more. ____________________ 04 NSR 125(sold) ---- 03 CBR 600rr(sold) ----90 pan euro ST1100 ' ' ----02 CG 125
