I have managed to loose both keys to a squire lock, and have also neglected to take down the reference number on the key's.

The lock is attatched to an Almax chain and wrapped around a massive piece of steel which is used to hold up a worbench. Brick Wall

What's going to be the best way to get this off so I can continue to use the chain?

Edit the lock is a Squire ss65cs.

Want to drop over and borrow an angle grinder?

It will upset you how easy it is to cut through though.

I love grinders. They are brilliant at doing all sorts of things.

Just had a thought, would a locksmith not be able to get this off, thus leaving me with a still useable chain?

Have access to an angle grinder if need-be. Thanks for the offer though sickpup. Thumbs Up

Best to chop padlock as suggested .

Locksmith will be able to open it ,but alas they will open your wallet .

Get a solid quote for the job, before incurring call out charges.

Cut it off Twisted Evil Faster and cheaper

If you end up cutting, please time how long it takes and post it up here.

I'm an Almax Series III and Squire Lock user, so more than a passing interest.

If you just cut off the two links that are joined by the padlock you could still use the chain with another lock, and still open the padlock again if you ever do find the keys.

i heard it took 20 minutes to get through a squire lock with a locksmith using an angle grinder. Apparently the locksmith said it was the toughest lock he'd opened.

Read it on a forum.

20 minutes is a lot of time, but at the same time it isn't.

I spent an hour removing a disc lock with a jr hack saw with lots of people walking past me sitting working away at it.

no one said anything, no police. nothing.

Maybe they were intimidated though as there were two of us. (I was stealing my own bike because i forgot the disc lock was on and rode away. This bent the actual lock so the key wouldn't remove it.
