1996 Suzuki Bandit GSF 600, power fail!!!

I am having some problems with my Elec's on my bike,
i went out for a ride one night, came back, locked up and turned the alarm and everything on, (Laserline) everything was ok,
the next morning, i turned the alarm off, and when i went to start it, NOTHING!! i checked the kill swich, the horn the lights, everything was dead,, the alarm will still work, (i can set it off, arm it and de arm it and all,)but this time the indicators will not flash with it the way it used too,
the oil and green "N" light are comming on like normal when i turn it on, but no power is going to anything,

I have checked the bat, and it's good, all the fues's are good aswell as the main one's too,
some times the oil and "N" light flash when i turn the alarm on and off, rather then the hazard lights, and other times the oil light will glow just a little,
I have checked all the conectors, they are fine, nothing has been cut. it is so strainge, i cant work it out, i have talked to lot's of other ppl too, and they cant work it out at all,

I dont know if anyone has had this happen or know whats going on, but it would be grate if some one could help,

The power to the alarm..


sod it, pull your battery leads off.
put them back on..

ride away.

hopefully i'm right, some of those alarms "reset" after 20 starts or so.
you have to pull out a fuse, replace it and then go.
i might be right, but I could be wrong.

dose any one know is i can get a new controle box for a Laserline 862, I can get the fob's, but i think it could be the main box,

still not found out whats going on with this, think we may have tracked it down to some place from the key barrle to the ECU, think it's way over my head now, ohwell,
going to have to pull the cash out of my but to get it sorted,

Rip the alarm out and reconnect the wires in the main loom.

Had nothing but problems with a Spyball on one of my bikes, it was the best thing I ever did.

could be a power problem on your bike..something along the lines of the ignition barrel is not working on the power side.your alarm has it's own power from the battery no mater if your ignition is on or off so thus will still work...get a meter on the switch as a first check...failing that check the wires from the battery to the ignition switch

Is the battery fully charged? Testing it with a multimeter will not tell you if it needs charging. Try a different battery first.

after re-reading your post while more awake and less soaked in caffeine. i come to this conclusion...

there could be water in the control box of your alarm, i think this because of the intermittent flashing of the neutral light and oil light instead of the indicators, sounds like the little microprocessor in the alarm is malfunctioning and sending signals all over the place.
you could try opening the control box and cleaning the circuit board, you can get spray cleaner for about a fiver, but I just use soapy water, a toothbrush and then dab dry with loo roll and leave it somewhere warm for an hour or so.

also once you have it open you can have a look at it and see if anything is burnt, look for discoloured components, burnt out tracks, loose/dry/cracked solder joints....

if its an old alarm that has been subjected to a lot of weather then its probably a good idea to get it on the bench and clean up the solder joints, although thats quite a bit of pissing about it's probably easier than ripping it out and fitting a new one...

dont try anything you're not sure about, I don't want you wrecking the alarm then it turns out to be something else.

just a thought: Try this first.
Turn on ignition, do everything you normally do to start the bike, when you're pressing the starter try tapping and wiggling the control box, if there is any difference in how the lights are flashing or maybe it makes an attempt to start you know the problem is definitely in the control box or the connections close to it...

Thanks for all your help, iv still not been able to find what it is, I think im going to have to bite the bullit and send it to the work shop, it's oing to mean dishing out more than i have or can dish out, but that what the game is all about right,

Well it's all sorted,
Need to rip the hole loom to bit's, and it turns out it was only a weathered conection that was creaiting a bad conection,
But it's all fixed now,
