Were not just going on looks though mike, useability is the key, an R6 from what I hear would not make a very good everyday bike, I know that Yams uses it as an everday bike but from experiance a GSXR is really easy to get on with in traffic because it has such a smooth power delivery although I have yet to ride an srad.
|
Yup I do use it everyday, not really had any problems with that, but it can be a bit annoying around town and it /really/ doesn't like going slowly
| shaun wrote: |
Bearing in mind that Jay hasn't been riding properly for quite a while now either, should he drop it at any point it will be a LOT cheaper to get the srad mint again than it would an R6! |
Definetly agree with that.
| shaun wrote: |
Also, the R6 is the tarts choice whilst the GSXR is the hooligans choice. |
R6's are much tartier, nicer, better looking, however you want to call it. Just watch out though, some R6 owners can actually ride them (Ermmm honest.. theres gotta be someone lol)

Jay fits the hooligan criteria a lot better than he does the tart criteria! |

Go for the S-RAD, Suzuki All the way
But that red colour is horrible on a GSX-R, Gotta be Blue or White (even yellow looks better) |

Don't know how much your spending, but if you can stretch to getting a K1 gixxer then you should IMO. Much nicer bike. R6 is a good bike too so I don't think you'll go far wrong with either. ____________________ Past >>>> Honda NSR 125 >>>> Suzuki GSXR 600 K1 >>>> Suzuki GSXR 600 K4 >>>>Kawasaki Z1000 DAF >>>>Suzuki RMZ 250 >>>> Current >>>> KTM Superduke R 1290 >>>> |

Not having an experience of any powerful bikes I will judge them on looks and to be honest the R6 looks much sexier! ____________________ Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. You need to decide on your budget, and also shop around more places than just DK as privatly you get better value for money generally but you need to be confident that you're not buying a lemon .
As to choosing which one will do you best, firstly get a test ride on each of the ones you are considering (make sure it is of the actual year/model which you are looking at getting) and in the test ride see what its like for the types of riding you'll be doing with it. Also get insurance quotes for both, and ask some questions on the GSXR and R6 forums as to what that bike will be like for what you are wanting it for, and also asking what they're like with fuel consumption, tyres, servicing and other such stuff. The forums will also be able to give you a pointer as to stuff to look out for whilst looking at second hand bikes .
Happy bike shopping and enjoy your new bike when you find it. |

Everyone has R6's and you'll end up as a tart!
I would say that an Srad would suit you much more jay, its a bike that nutters and lazy eyed psychos ride - basically they have a reputation!
Whereas the R6 is for tarts!
I see you fallling slightly more into the first category! (Not that either really suits... ) ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F
Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Scouse, have you ridden a proper bike before? You sure you wanna go jumping onto one of the fastest 600's you can find with no real practice or experience? Not trying to slate you mate, you just said in another post that you'd not had a bike for ages and I dunno what you've had 'afore.
Personally I'd go for the SRAD And it was well known as a hooligans bike due to the dodgy power delivery, same as the early TL's. R6 has always been that bit more refined. ____________________ Back on a Blade. Just feels so right. |

First instinct was the R6 because I've always loved how they look. But when I was reading up on which 600 to get most of the reviews said the R6 wasn't good all round, and not that comfy to ride either.
I like the Suzuki in red, it's unusual! So I'd go for that one
(but I'd also agree with billy whizz and say a zx6r is even better ) ____________________ "The problem with the French is they have no word for 'entrepreneur' " George W Bush
