That top bike is horrible jay, this is the silliest poll I have seen for a while :p clearly the R6 will win.

Its like comparing a C90 with an R1.

I would change the exhaust on the R6 though.

Were not just going on looks though mike, useability is the key, an R6 from what I hear would not make a very good everyday bike, I know that Yams uses it as an everday bike but from experiance a GSXR is really easy to get on with in traffic because it has such a smooth power delivery although I have yet to ride an srad.

Bearing in mind that Jay hasn't been riding properly for quite a while now either, should he drop it at any point it will be a LOT cheaper to get the srad mint again than it would an R6!

Also, the R6 is the tarts choice whilst the GSXR is the hooligans choice. Cool

Jay fits the hooligan criteria a lot better than he does the tart criteria! Thumbs Up

Yup I do use it everyday, not really had any problems with that, but it can be a bit annoying around town and it /really/ doesn't like going slowly

Definetly agree with that.

R6's are much tartier, nicer, better looking, however you want to call it. Just watch out though, some R6 owners can actually ride them Wink (Ermmm honest.. theres gotta be someone lol)

I would personally say the R6 is much more of a hooligan bike than the gixer.

Hang on, in the pic you have an 04 r6, and an older gixxer6 (not sure, around 98/99, maybey). Feel fee to comment if im wrong.

How much do you want to spend? An new r6 costs loads. Are you prepared to blow all that on a new bike? i wouldn't for my first bike...It will could easily be dropped soon after passing...

i dont know, but you can get one hell of a (fuel injected) gsxr600 for around £3k. you may even be able to get good r6 for around that price (mabey a bit more).

id spend around 3k at most on a first bike. check autotrader.co.uk for some very good deal...

3k will get you an amazing bike, trust me...

btw, dont want a 400 do ya? very good, forgiving, easy first sports bike. just an idea...

Don't know how much your spending, but if you can stretch to getting a K1 gixxer then you should IMO. Much nicer bike. R6 is a good bike too so I don't think you'll go far wrong with either.

Not having an experience of any powerful bikes I will judge them on looks and to be honest the R6 looks much sexier! Razz

You need to decide on your budget, and also shop around more places than just DK as privatly you get better value for money generally but you need to be confident that you're not buying a lemon Laughing.

As to choosing which one will do you best, firstly get a test ride on each of the ones you are considering (make sure it is of the actual year/model which you are looking at getting) and in the test ride see what its like for the types of riding you'll be doing with it. Also get insurance quotes for both, and ask some questions on the GSXR and R6 forums as to what that bike will be like for what you are wanting it for, and also asking what they're like with fuel consumption, tyres, servicing and other such stuff. The forums will also be able to give you a pointer as to stuff to look out for whilst looking at second hand bikes Smile.

Happy bike shopping and enjoy your new bike when you find it. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Everyone has R6's and you'll end up as a tart! Wink

I would say that an Srad would suit you much more jay, its a bike that nutters and lazy eyed psychos ride - basically they have a reputation!

Whereas the R6 is for tarts! Wink Razz

I see you fallling slightly more into the first category! (Not that either really suits... Wink )

Scouse, have you ridden a proper bike before? You sure you wanna go jumping onto one of the fastest 600's you can find with no real practice or experience? Not trying to slate you mate, you just said in another post that you'd not had a bike for ages and I dunno what you've had 'afore.
Personally I'd go for the SRAD Very Happy And it was well known as a hooligans bike due to the dodgy power delivery, same as the early TL's. R6 has always been that bit more refined.

Budget won't really be a problem, the job is pretty well payed. I will be looking around different places but these are just the bikes I will be looking at and trying to choose between.

I will be but I dont expect it too be that cheap anyway, given my age. AFAIK the GSXR is a group cheaper. Wink I may have to ask Danny for his services.

I have rode big bikes before Dean, as in 400's and 600's, so it won't be that much of a problem for me really. Cool

Always the way with these dealers, they wanna sell you a bike but won't let you test ride it till you something like 25.

Some dealers just turn a blind eye though like my local Hyosung Dealer, I passed my test with there training school over 3 years ago, he just handed me the keeys and said bring it back in one piece Mr. Green

Which I did of course Razz

It was, it shows that there isn't much between the bikes. They will both do what you want them to do, if you know how to tell them to do it. Wink

First instinct was the R6 because I've always loved how they look. But when I was reading up on which 600 to get most of the reviews said the R6 wasn't good all round, and not that comfy to ride either.

I like the Suzuki in red, it's unusual! So I'd go for that one Smile

(but I'd also agree with billy whizz and say a zx6r is even better Wink )

For me it would depend on what you're gonna spend. If they were the same price I'd go for the R6, however I suspect the GSX-R is a fair bit cheaper so I'd go for that.
