Depends what you want, I test rode a 2k ZX9R when I had a 96 Blade and the bikes felt identical, which is how far behind Kwak were then.
Which Blade is it? If it's the 929 then it's slightly behind the R1 in terms of power, about the same on handling and better build quality. If it's the RRW/RRX it's slower than the 929 but way more comfortable.
I'd always go for the Blade from that era but I love Blades, having said that I have a Fazer Thou which uses the R1 engines, albeit slightly detuned, and it is a good engine.
Ride them all, that;s the only way to know.
Cheers

The blade 929 is an excellent bike, and my dad had the k2 gixxer for a couple of years before trading it in for a k5, and said there isn't a lot of difference between the two looks aside.
Have you considered a thunderace? Bulletproof, cheap, look okay and have a powerful lump in them. They are also a bit more comfortable? ____________________ Journalist, student, egotist.

If you wait 2 years, the 05 bike will be a similar age to the ones you are looking at now i.e. 7 - 8 years old, so you will be in exactly the same position. The SRAD will however be worth less.
As to which will be best overall, thats a million dollar question. They will all outride you and the roads you will use them on to get to work.
The Kwak will, probably be the most comfortable as a communter I suspect, never owned one but have ridden a few, likewise the R1.
I have owned a couple of GSXR 1000s and would happily commute on them.
I always struggle with the 'what bike shall I get' question as what you like and suits you will be different to what I would have.
To be honest for the style of bike, you won't really go wrong with any of them. As usual, get what floats your boat ____________________ carbon bling |

R1s seem to command the most on insurance for some reason. Gixxers are comparitively cheap, so I'd say go K1 thou. ____________________ My Flickr |
